Evening all,

I've got my lad a Quest for Xmas, but having never used one i just need to know if everything that comes in the box is all i need for Xmas Day!!

Does it come with a charger?

Is there a recommended charging dock?

Do i need to buy any batteries?

Anything else i need to know? Top tips?

Not straight away but buy some rechargeable a batteries and a charger for them

yes buy mamut grips for the controllers, if they are out of stock or not going to come by Christmas, I can sell you mine as I’m sending back my rift s which has a pair. They allow you to let go of the controller and increase immersion a looooot.
 
Setup an Oculus account for tthe Quest, charge it up and leave it in sleep mode to update, so you get the latest firmware.
IMPORTANT: The Oculus account you setup will also be used for purchases. Any games bought or downloaded will be linked to that account permanently.
Also download and install the Vader Immortal games (which should be free from the store).
Add some other free experiences like First Steps and buy some paid apps like Beat Saber if you wish.
Do NOT download and install rollercoaster games for use as first experiences in VR. It'll make people who use it feel sick.
Then once all the games are installed shut down the headset and charge it fully, so that when he opens it on Christmas Day it's all ready to go with no waiting.
