Hi all just wondering who on here runs folding@home? I noticed you have a team but seems to be quite quiet so was just wondering how big the folding scene was on here?

I'm a big contributor & guru to the F@H project although sorry to say for another team

Quite a lot of us do :)

Some tends to swing between Seti and Folding depending on how they feel about the project at the time.

Some run both.

Nothing like the team you fold for's combined output however which is  not surprising when you consider the number of active crunchers you have :)

You looking to hop ship? :D

The forum is a bit quieter than usual regarding folding (we used to have weekly news) but the team is actively folding away. There's about 50 active folders, 16 people doing over 5000 ppd and a few nutters (everyone above me) doing over 20,000 ppd.

You're very welcome to join us. This forum can quickly liven up as a lot of people lurk but don't post much.

F@H seems to come in and out of fashion here. We're going through a slow patch just now (not unusual in the summer when it gets a bit warm).

We have a few stalwarts (or "nutters" as verbal calls us) who plod along for most of the time and quite a few who come and go. A few of the people who have been regular contributors are working on SETI at the moment - some of them will hopefully return to the Fold in the future.

I had a brief stint in your team a while back (actually got Folder of the month back in August '07 - never did get my graphics card :p). I left OcUK (for reasons I won't go into here), moved over to CPC for a bit then had some router issues and gave up completely for a while. When I got it all sorted out, I came back here.

"nutters" just meant as a joke because if you fold more than I do you must be mental ;)

...actually it's a complement. I hope to be a nutter one day :)

Team 10 is lacking a weekly news. That used to get us all talking. I was considering taking over when I decided to lay off the folding for a bit. Even though it is not exactly sunny, it can still be pretty warm and the heat can be unbearable. I work from home so it is not a pleasant environment and is even harder to sleep!

Rest assured a bunch of us will be back soon enough. I have two i7s and a GTX260 lurking ready for the off. :D

Any bigadv plans for those i7s sirius.

I'm currently getting a few early hints in to the missus for birthday presents. One of which is a Phenom X6 :p

Team 10 is lacking a weekly news.

With the news I know it is a lot of work to put together, but until one of us has the time how about we just create a news thread each Monday, cut and paste the team threats / conquests and the active cruncher outputs from the team EOC page?

I'm happy to do something like that myself as it only takes a few min and at least we have somewhere to have a bit of banter. Would have to be in the evening though, work has blocked my access to OcUk :(

Google Translate proxy?

I am noticing a distinct lack of competition in 5th place (24hr output). The next up is Biffa with over 14k/day more than me which is, quite frankly, unachievable for me without either a second machine or using considerably better graphics cards, which would mean watercooling them to make them single-slot. The next down is dekez who, I'm sorry to say, just isn't putting up much incentive to maximise my folding output - whether I'm at 30k/day, 28k/day, or 25k/day, it's not going to make any difference to my 24hour rankings. Sorry dekez ;)

I'll applaud any effort to get a team news going again, but doubt I'll be able to contribute :(

I might have a few ideas for a competition that everyone can take part in. I will even fold for the duration, though probably wont come close to winning! :p

Let me think about it for a while and I will get back to you guys!

Thanks for the replies chaps, only seems like its a bit quiet then but in the background you are all folding away :)

Yeah I fold for Custom PC & BT, im currently doing anywhere between 180-220,000 PPD depending on the WU's etc.

Unfortunately no plans to be moving teams as the CPC team are a great bunch of lads and I've been with them a long time although as im reasonably new on these forums so if all goes well and I fit in ok I might swap a rig or 2 over at some point to help ya out ;)

End of the day all folding is good for the science teams aside, just hope its all worth while and we can contribute to some decent break through's :D

Care to share the 30 rigs you obviously have? :p

Just spotted this. No, no bigadv. One is my 2008 server and the other is my main PC running Windows 7. Absolutely no interest in running Linux full time or losing 5GB+ RAM to a VM! :p

There should be a few more people around the 30K mark once everyones rigs are sorted / fixed / summers over.

And I hope to be getting another 260 at some point, that should give you something to worry about ;)

A competition sound good :)

Hopefully I'll be putting out some more ppd soon, just ordered a new cooler for my 9800GT which will drop the temps a bit, more head room for a higher clock :D

@coolamasta "180-220,000 PPD" How many rigs are you running ?
