Having received my kit yesterday and unboxing it today, I've just put together the Overclockers i7 930 bundle which comprises of

Gigabyte Ga-x58A-Udr3 motherboard
I7 930 @ 4ghz
3 x Patriot viper 2gb Pc3-12800c8 (1600mhz) tri channel ddr memory
Noctua NHU12P SE2 fan

And having just installed win7 and ran prime in blend test after 2 mins the temp has shot upto 100c on all 4 cores.

I applied half a pea sized blob of the paste which comes with the Noctua, which is supposed to have instant burn in time.

Its worrying me that this is way too high for what the i7's can take.

Ive two noctua intake fans at the bottom of the case, two exhausting at the top, one at the back ( in line with the cpu) and two noctua fans connected to the cpu heatsink blowing air towards the back of the case.

Im running a coolermaster Cosmos 1000 case, with wires all tucked behind the back side door and with the side off it still shows 97c on all cores..

Help please!

Kit i bought - http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-029-OB

I think you may need to reseat the cooler and re-apply fresh thermal paste.
Also make sure the cooler is tight down on the cpu. - If get what I mean, I did this on my water block, screwed the screws tight.

Btw room temp is about 15c and all fans are running at full speed.
No bios changes were made since installation, and coretemp reports 250c ++ for 3 cores.. which is odd.

faulty thermal sensors ? i don't know but 250C would kill the cpu outright so make sure the cooler is installed correctely and send a webnote to ocuk because you may have to RMA

I'll try that now cheers..

when i applied the thermal paste i put half a pea sized in the centre, smudged it around a little to find that the paste had not completely covered the cpu, just a circular shape around the centre, not touching around the edges (about 3/4 cm in from each side. So I added a couple of tiny blobs towards each side (not completely at the edge), then squashed the heatsink down to find it covered the cpu thoroughly, but i may of put too much on.. ??

Ok guys ive just reseated the hsf following the same method as artics site mentions yet its still hitting 100c.. I applied a thin line in the centre and pushed down, made sure the screws are lock tight and it is tight :S.. With the side case off, and touching the hsf it is pretty warm, about 50c, but not 90c as realtemp is reporting.

Have you been into the bios and had a peak what the vcore is set at?

Looking at the voltage mines running at - 1.328v

I found this page which the guy is running 4ghz stable at 1.264v

Am i missing something??

These were the pre overclocked settings that came installed.

Ok, after running prime in small fft's for about a minute, to load temps 100c, and then rebooting the computer (not turning it off), and with the side door open, this is what the bios reports -

Thanks to everybody for your time on this.

I'm not too happy with the temps and stability of my OCUK i7 920 overclocked to 4GHz bundle either, it doesn't even survive 30s in Prime95.

My CPU's voltage is also quite high(?) - 1.296V according to CPU-Z.

I know nothing about overclocking which is why I went for an overclocked bundle - to see how it is successfully done and learn from that (I failed to overclock my previous Q6600). Not impressed with what I've received so far.

Interested to read what more experienced overclockers have to say about fluidz's problem.

I managed to overclock my q6600 to 3.3ghz so that wasn't really an issue for me to begin with an overclocked product.

But to find out my volts are way higher than most i've read is slightly baffleing me.

I'd appreciaate if you tech guys could take a look at the following screenshot and tell me what you can make out from it. Prime is running small fft's in the background btw.. 10 mins after boot.
