Interestingly enough, with another two cores,CFL-S and Ryzen+ might actually have similarly sized chips!!

I'm sure they'll start soldering again soon on mainstream i5/i7 chips, I'm gonna get Ryzen in April because at least I can upgrade to 7nm if I want to later on.
Quad channel memory and a big pool of cash?
Don't know a game that uses 4 cores let alone 8 or 12 or 16 or whatever.
What are you playing? Pretty much everything I play will use all 8 threads on my i7, and I've seen games happily spread the load over 16 threads.
Cities Skylines & FF XV
I'd love it if it was using my 4 cores 8 threads fully but it doesn't fully utilise them.Skylines will happily eat threads in big cities... Used to swamp my 2500k. 1600x shows more than six loaded threads. No regrets here

Well my 2500k ran 99% on all cores with a medium-large city... If you're running with no or minimal mods, most likely you're being capped by the graphics thread. Heavily modded installs (such as mine) can load up the pathfinding threads and even it out a bit. I certainly see enough CPU usage with 6c/12t that I don't feel it was wasted
Haha 12c 24t at 5ghz from AMD? This forum gets better everyday.
I'm so glad CPU stagnation took place while i was at uni. Graduate in 6 weeks and a bit of time to do some saving for a much needed upgrade into a considerably more interesting space (minus GPU prices )
Just to add I think assassins Creed Origins was shown to scale past 16 threadsCities Skylines & FF XV

Wouldn't be a CPU thread without a Gavin AMD bashing
I'm not saying it's going to happen, far from it as I think AMD won't be able to hit 5.0, but I knew you'd be in here with the Anti-AMD agenda As predictable as night follows day squire.
is the main game different? only used 20% of my cpu on the demoFF XV
So from what I'm hearing:April 2nd -- Intel B360/H370/H310 and the rest of CFL-S CPUsApril 3rd -- CFL-H (notebooks)April 19th -- X470/Ryzen 2000 Of course, nothing is confirmed.
