OcUK Beers of the World Weekly Results - 'V' Beer

i have yet to venture onto tasting the tesco's masterpiece of value and am not expecting anything except mixing with lots of lemonade for chilled shandy.

however, i question some of the entrys being anything but value brand, even if they are supermarkets own. how can sainsburys 'taste the difference' be anything other than a premium own brand beer. i know i'm being picky but i actually expected zero points or 1 at most this wk.

am i being to arsey?

Trust me dude - you mix this with anything and you'd be better off drinking tap water (it really is that weak). The only thing it's good for is pouring down the sink!

I also was sceptical about my entry being classed as value - however I also added in my emailed picture that I'm following the rules:

  • Cheap - £1.99
  • Supermarket Name Included - Check
  • Not on Neck of Bottle - Check
  • Not S&M soz M&S - Check

It also tasted utter crap - so yeah I'd guess you'd class it as cheap ****!

A little arsey :p

On the one hand I do agree Value wasn't quite the right word to describe the round (as that generally implies the cheapest of beers), but at the same time I like that we have tried some own brand beers (even if they are the good taste the difference ones), mostly because they are fairly cheap (the one I entered is always 2 for £3) and it is a good way to see if they are any good!

Probably the theme of the round is to try something the super market offers as its own brand opposed to something we know is from a good brewery from somewhere ;) (not just something cheap they have to get us warmed up)

At least we all got good points :) (or :( if pulling back the leaders was the aim this week...)

Value, to me, would have been the cheapest supermarket own brand (being that sort of guy sometimes sadly).

Much preferred the way we played it out though, must nicer to drink more than anything else :)

My beer was alright, quite hoppy but nothing amazing. But then again, if it's anything below 40 IBU's I can't taste the hops!

I bought 4 cans of Tesco's Bitter which were 4 for £1 and 2.3% each. Yet to drink any, but I'm not holding my breath!

Totally ****ed tonight, thank God I'm not working until eleven!

What a lot of fuss...bit late complaining now. :p

In any case this was discussed weeks ago in the main thread.

Kudos to those who bought the cheap stuff, I just couldn't bring myself to do that. :D
