OcUK brilliant service

Why would they let people bash them on a forum they provide free of charge?

Particularly when people who have a bad experience will be far more likely to post complaining than someone praising them.

Because OcUK are missing out on a big opportunity in exploring that realm. If managed correctly it can be done without the abuse you allude to. A forum that is directly linked to the shop but doesnt allow free criticism stirs suspicion. The portrayed perfection of the shop service smells fake when there is no imperfections to be seen.

In my opinion it would be excellent if customers could attempt to address order problems through the forum. Other etailers of computer hardware do it.

OcUK offer fab service, and if they're slightly more expensive than a competitor then I'd still order from here as I know I'd be getting fantastic reliable service.

I can understand why they do it tho... a company I used to help run encouraged unmoderated feedback on their forums and at first glance people would have got a very bad impression of what was actually very good service because a small number of people who either unfortunatly had a bad experience or from their own stupidity didn't get what they wanted dominated it with their bad experience.

Also you get a good number of customers try to use it as the first port of call rather than follow proper procedures - then wonder why they didn't get the attention on their problem that they should have done - if they'd made a support ticket first off they'd have been sorted out in 24 hours in most cases, 48 at most.

Ricochet J - do you make this kind of posts on other forums belonging to other companies, or is this just a "I'm in the gang" post?

Well you see, there is something called a public forum. And this is a public forum. Don’t get lost now, you still with me? Now, if I am happy and like something I will post about it. If I am not happy and dislike something I will post about it. The point is I will post whatever I like as long as it doesn't violate the rules. Because it is a public forum people can choose to become engaged in and out of discussions or even choose to ignore discussions all together. My topic states my happy experience with OcUK. It just happens this forum is also owned by OcUK. Posting about how happy I am wont get me a free RAM stick. But it's my opinion I wish to express. In the same way neither will you asking stupid questions with that confused look all over your chevvy chase will not earn you respectful replies to your posts.
Now, hopefully, you will see some sort of correlation.

there not the cheapest but free delivery and they answer there phones when you call, i buy most of my stuff from here tbh,

Aye, a forum with hidden discussions.

It's a forum where a forum member with a shop issue can talk directly to shop staff and they can help them without other members possibly clouding the issue with incorrect information or input :/

If you make a complaint over the phone about something, you don't set up a conference call and get all your mates who know a bit about stuff to join in.

OcUK brilliant service

"OMG you brown noser"

Erm.... get the **** off the forums then? How do you think these boards exist in the first place?

You're missing the point, if the complaints procedure was made more transparent (via the forums) then it might be positive to see problems resolved. To be able to see a disgruntled customer made to feel satisfied by good customer service it would be good reassurance for other potential customers. Yes the system would need to be moderated to restrict the problem you mention but to me it feels like the shop, through the forum, is almost portraying 100% satisfaction in all its custom which is obvioulsy impossible.

Personally, the true mark of a company regardless of who it is, is not how items are posted, how fast they are posted or how easy it was to order etc. For me those things are a given for any company. It's when thing's go wrong, only then will you see genuine customer service and I feel at that point is when praise should be given. All imo of course.

OcUK's censorship tactics are no great surprise. Yes other notable competitors allow negative comments to be discussed and the outcome is there for all to see, but if that's how OcUK choose to run their business then so be it. I wouldn't allow people to pan my company on a forum I had provided.

It's not exactly shocking or surprising, nor should it be a major influence on your life as everyone is free to vote with their wallets.

I try where ever possible to buy all my stuff from OCUK, even if something ends up being a couple of quid more expensive than other retailers, just because I know the service will be spot on.

I've had a couple of things to RMA but again the service has been quick and helpful.

Agreed

I think you missed my point ( or i did not give the point very well )

I have been waiting since december in total for a solution, and since the 1st of july for a reply on the RMA thingy.

Suffice to say i use another company now.
