Ocuk Bundle..cpu paste issue?

Afternoon,

Ordered a new cpu/ram/board bundle from ocuk this week for a mate of mine. Came with Cpu installed in board..Am just about to build it but have a question. There is a fair bit of what appears to be thermal paste on the edges of the chip and a bit seems lodged between the chip and the chip plate. Why would there be paste on the cpu chip before the cooler has been installed?

Is it an overclocked bundle? if so, it will have had to be used to overclock and it and check it is stable. Nothing to worry about.

it will have probably have been pre fitted, is it an overclocked bundle? or a standard one?

Yeah it is an Oc bundle...thanks for clearing that up. Must have been stability tested.
