Will OC ever be doing these like there are for CPU's?

While I am some way off watercooling my stuff, would be nice to know this was an option.

I really wouldn't want to fiddle on a lot and would love to be able to just buy a kit that I knew had everything that was needed.

It wouldn't be a bad idea. There could be a quick start guide of sorts offering advice on how much radiator space you're likely to need for your particular card(s), and then offering drop down boxes with a choice of radiators and blocks.

It could be argued that if you can only do the CPU or GPU, a lot of people tend to go for the CPU, so GPU kits may not sell as well, but if the kit is put together by OcUK, they can offer alternative parts if they don't have certain things in stock, so they shouldn't have pumps, reservoirs, etc. set aside in case someone buys one of the kits. Even if they had something like three or four choices for each drop down box at varying price points, but that guaranteed compatibility between any of the parts chosen...

Just some thoughts, I guess...

Something that could be implemented is an option for the VXX kits which adds a gpu block and 4 extra fittings that are guaranteed to match.

Not a bad idea :)

I'd like to see something like that taken a step further in terms of the customisability. There are CPU kits, so why not allow the customer to add or remove CPU and GPU blocks from a pre-made OcUK kit as the customer sees fit, with a few options picked out for a block on a budget, bang-for-buck and high end blocks. You could then have a choice of radiators depending on your cooling needs.

You could even take it a step further and have some kind OcUK water cooling configurator like EK do for their blocks. It wouldn't have to be too advanced. Just something to select what you want to do with the kit, your budget, and whether you're looking for silence or performance, which would then suggest blocks, fans, radiators, etc. based on your selection.

Again, just brainstorming really. There would be plenty of discussion over the finer details of implementing something like this :D

One thing I would NEED is the option for slim fans...

I don't want to change my case again, but only way I would get rads in top of fractal define r3 would be slim rads with slim fans. Slim 12mm fans are hard to come by.

And it's likely OC would have to start stocking vram and vrm heatsinks too.

the kits are designed that if you want to add a GPU block then you just buy a gpu block and two more fittings.

there is no point adding a multi gpu block drop down menu when you can just add one to your basket.

if you want to just cool the gpu [which is a totally pointless undertaking] you can always call sales and ask them to remove the cpu block and exchange it for a gpu block.

I have been working on a WC configurator for a while but its taking ages because I dont really know what I am doing with the software :(

Why would just cooling the GPU be pointless you reckon?

It's just that I have Directcu II 7950's in crossfire, which means I don't have a lot of headway in overclocking/volting due to temps on top card due to space.

I suppose I could call sales if I wanted to go that route (to get pcu bock replaced with gpu), but I don't see why it would be a problem just doing for GPU's what you are already doing for CPU's?

Would save me the hassle of making that call at all :D

because if you are spending the money cooling your gpu, you may as well put the cpu on the same loop. especially as you have a 2500k which:

1. doesnt heat up a loop to much anyway
3. becomes a lot better for clocking on water

we dont carry blocks for non reference cards such as yours which would mean we wouldnt be able to provide the blocks for you. you would need to get them from EK direct.

doing gpu only kits is pretty much a minimal demand application.

people generally start watercooling with the CPU
then if they want to update, they will add a gpu too.

you are the first person who has asked for a gpu specific kit.

Fair point :p

Agreed. The CPU produces a lot less heat, so there's no reason not to have it in the loop.

Sounds interesting. I agree the drop down box with GPU blocks is kind of pointless by itself, as it's no better than adding it separately to the basket. If you don't know what you're buying, it being in a drop down box won't help you. A cooling configurator would be good to see, though. You can include more than just EK blocks, and it makes things easier for those people that aren't sure what they're supposed to be buying, or who, like eyetrip, want to just buy a kit and know it'll all fit together and just work, without having to go digging for information, reviews, etc.

This is probably the main benefit of a configurator. No one wants to make these kind of calls at the best of times unless they have to, and then there's the chance of being on hold for an undetermined amount of time. Any time I've called OcUK I've only been kept waiting a matter of minutes, but if it comes down to buying from OcUK and being done in a couple of clicks, or spending 5+ minutes on the phone with a competitor, you just got yourself a sale with the majority of people, providing there isn't an appreciable difference in price.

the main thing about a configurator is there is no WHAT IF clause at the moment. so if something is incompatible, it wont flag up and say so.

im working on it, it will just take time.
