Well chuffed, the boy got into his 1st choice! Talking to him when he got back and some of his friends that were predicted A*/A ended up with B's & C's and are going to do retakes. Even his gf got lower than expected and is scrabbling about.
Same here. We were paying £680 a month. Now it’s £0.

He loves the course in Bristol but is really uncertain about Bristol as a place to live.
I thought Bristol was a good place to live. Might be making that up but I have some friends that moved there and like it. My partners cousin lived there for years and really liked it. Guess its different being a working adult vs student though.
Physiotherapy at Buckinghamshire New Uni (wants to go into sports physiotherapy down the line), 2nd choice was Bristol - but he'd have to rely on clearing for that and when he called at 8:08 all spots were gone (he preferred the bucks campus out of the 2) 3rd choice was Winchester which he had an unconditional from - ironically his gf got into Winchester, she originally wanted Southampton tho.@C Kent where is your lad off to, what is he studying?

I've spoken to loads of parents of kids that felt the same. All of them ended up loving Bristol.
In the end it's irrelevant. He got the grades for Durham so he's off to do maths in September.
). Commiserations to your bank account. He enjoys maths, he's good at it and works hard, but it's not his life. 8 week terms and being surrounded by the most able in the world could have made Oxford a really hard option. Plus Durham is lovely.
I think I've got a bigger smile on my face than he hasIt's awesome when you watch them start to fulfil all that promise.
The window does seem be getting shorter every year, I expect in the not to distant future kids will be phoning up at 8 on the dot and there will be none left.It is very suss how all the clearing spaces are for foreign students - obviously the finance they bring with them is key, but it does feel unfair!
Indeed, don't think I've fully come to terms with not having the little burke be a part of my every day life yet. Going to miss my random chats at midnight when he'd either come down to grab a drink or get back from the gym. Suppose the upside is it will give me the push to leave where I am as with him off to uni there isnt really anything keeping me down here. It's going to be very strange for us as we'll have both kids away at uni now. Time to get some term time holidays booked (if we can flipping afford them!)

Can't believe a year has flown by already, found the whole experience very strange. I've found that in a weird way I've been grieving time going by, but loving the next milestone and the next.
Suspect I've got a difficult week coming up with him going to the minders for the first time![]()
I know it's inevitable but my god I'm still terrifiedIt doesn’t slow down, believe me. Give it another year and they’ll be running around and having conversations with you.
