Hi all,
Booked a wedding with the Hilton hotel group about 4 weeks ago, got the date set, invitations made and registrar all booked. Had the phone call today to say and I quote sorry we will have to cancel your wedding date as we have a conference now booked, which is worth more to us then yourselves:(

Now I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this is an utter disgrace, here is where you can help. Can anyone find some high up people in the Hilton Hotel to complain to?

I have the 2 following names Chris Nassetta National general manager and Nick Taylor York manager. Now I have emails from them which is [email protected] is it a safe assumption to say that its just the name of said person with a DOT @hilton.com?

Can anyone confirm if these are current or have any other point of contacts ?

As you can no doubt tell furious about this, purely because the ops manager wants the profit before customer service. I'm sure if I find the right person higher enough up of the food chain I'll get some results.

Your help would be great and sorry for the rant!

Well, if it isn't, the emails will bounce. You will get a notification from the server.

Just wondering if you had any sort of booking paperwork that lays out each parties right to cancel etc? Had you paid for the date in full? I would have thought if you had money down and couldn't cancel yourself, surely they must have some sort of obligation to you as a service contract or the like.

I have no experience of this type of arrangement but I would expect you would have some sort of protection under law, if a formal agreement had been reached.

You'll find a lot of businesses doing this right now, my brother's honeymoon was recently cancelled (5 months in advance) because a wedding party wanted full use of the hotel wheras my brother's booking was only one room.

Thanks for the suggestions. We paid a smallish deposit and we we just talk in about prices, what's included etc etc was going to pay halve of the cost of it on Friday . The she rings up and tells me that.

On the proposal form it's says if another party is interested in YOUR date we will ring you , and will be asked to pay halve the cost of the wedding. Which I thought was fair enough, when I mentioned this she just said the conference is worth more to the hotel than your wedding:(

Not bothered about money off , getting deposit back , just need that date and that venue. Can't believe it, at least lie and say it's doubled booked and you booked after the other party etc etc. Not just come and blatantly say they are spending more money than you:confused:

I have to admit thats pretty shocking service. A polite yet firm letter expressing your crushing dissapointment about the way you were treated sent to Hilton Head Office might get you some free stays or something :)

Seems not. I'm assuming I'll get some sort of phone call. Like i said genuinely not bothered about free nights ,other dates at a cheaper rate.

Suppose lesson learnt and hopefully my letter of complaint will get the person responsible for this a harsh few words.

Needless to say think twice about booking a wedding at a Hilton hotel
