well i dont actually know what my temps are. someone said my temps are off by 10'c or so. so i could be at 52? i dont know. i should do a bios update but i dont know how to do it

Your temps will be off by about 10C. If you look in the BIOS under Health there is an option to calibrate. you can add up to 10C to the temp.

This is a well known problem with DFI UT boards and there is no BIOS that I know of that has addressed the problem.

If you want to calibrate your CPU temp accurately you will need a temperature probe and will need to directly measure the temp of the CPU as the problem is not restricted to a 10C discrepancy. Some people have correct temps, others are off by a few degrees and some more than 10C. However 10C is the average to my knowledge.

I wouldn't be too concerned however. The X2s can take at least 60C so as long as you arent too close to that you should be okay.

And I am also jealous. I have gotten my X2 4400+ to 2.6GHz. I am tempted to try and push higher but I lost a whole weekend of folding and I can't be mithered with sitting around waiting for stress tests etc. However, could you tell us what settings you have used?

my chipset is at 47 and and my pwmic (whatever that is) is at 57

The PWM IC is the jiggery-pokery that turns the PSU voltages to the correct voltages required by the CPU. You should have noticed the PWM IC temp getting higher as you pushed your vCore higher.

I should warn you that although the PWM IC is rated at about 100C, I have read a number of times on DFI-Street that it shouldn't exceed 50C if possible. It's not the end of the world running at 57 but I would keep an eye on it.

At high temps it can cause CPU instability because they cant effectively regulate the voltages correctly. If you do consider cooling you will find the PWM ICs are under the three grey heatsinks to the left of the IDE slots [they are in a vertical line.]

dont be like that. and my temps havent changed at all. with the new bios.

how long will 404 points take? hours? days?
it'll be a matter of days - I think you may have got a slight bit unlucky as the 404 pointers are generally not very good points for how long they take

still worth crunching though - there's bound to be something better as a reward afterwards :)

weird thing happend lastnight. i left my pc folding at about 3 i came to turn my monitors back on and i couldnt get any picture i had to restart my pc. i'll try without the screen saver (blank) and monitor power options (20mins) and see what happens
