Gangster - Italian American actor Frank Vincent, photo is from the film Goodfellas.

Hitman - Italian American actor Joe Pesci, photo is from the film Goodfellas.

Wise Guy - Italian American actor James Gandolfini, photo is from TV show The Sopranos

Man of Honour - Cuban/American actor Andy Garcia, photo is from either Oceans Eleven or The Godfather Part III

Underboss - Italian American actor Robert Deniro, photo is from the film Heat.

Don - Italian American actor Al Pacino, photo is from the film Scarface.

Commissario - Real life New York Mafia boss John Gotti, died in prison 4 yrs ago. Photo is probably from the court case that sent him to prison in 1992.

I like my avatar... its pensive, but charming and Garcia is good looking. Didn't realise he was a latino.

I think the origin has more to do with a gangster/mafia related game that lots of forum members were playing at the time that we started using them

I thought it was because of the 'real' Mafia

Come to think of it, it really should have clicked as I actually played the PC version of Mafia but at the time my PC wasn't up to it as the game was a bit too slow to be playable but I actually liked the game.
