OcUK forums blocked for under-18s by Orange

I've never come across a forum where so much effort is put into moderation - with the result that there is no swearing or adult material to be seen, which I applaud.

I was therefore very surprised to find that when I attempted to access the forum on my work PDA, it was blocked by Orange's safesurf filter as being only suitable to over 18s! So I click the button requesting that they review their policy (as I don't have any account details to hand to have safesurf removed) and 5 mins later I get a SMS confirming that they've the site isn't suitable for minors. Okaaaay.

Obviously all the hardcore hardware porn on here is just too saucy! :)
 
Orange safeguard is currently not working correctly, and blocks sites sometimes on a seemingly random basis, even if it's supposed to be disabled. Frequently closing your connection and clearing you cache and then going back on will get you onto the site in question. I can get onto the forums on my phone without too much problem, but it will sometimes throw up the safeguard error on random pages (including news.bbc.co.uk the other day) despite me having it disabled.

It's currently being worked on, but can't be disabled entirely without getting a lynching from Ofcom.

With regards to the forums themselves, the criteria used do involve what's termed unmoderated chat and forums, which is defined as any site where responses/topics are not actively approved (as opposed to passive moderation like we have here). The difference comes when pressing post puts the post straight up, rather than in a moderation queue to be approved, and site vetting is handled by a third party company.

The big keyboard man? For those of us without comically huge keyboards, please explain to us what this signifies. Or is it just a euphemism, to try and justify orange's blocking?

Our IT technician is a really annoying guy too. But I don't think that he has a big keyboard (in the non-euphemistic sense; dunno about the euphemistic sense, don't particularly want to know). He blocks any websites that involve the slightest bit of fun, yet he hasn't blocked OCUk yet, so thank goodness for that. He's normally very efficient at blocking stuff, so you go on a website, and next day it's been blocked. With OCUk, me and my friend have been using left, right and centre, yet no blockage! :)
