Is that gorillaz in you sig, did you know that damon albarn is a big fan of cardiacs and that they supported them in the early days? No? Well, now you do :D

The first time I saw Blur (and my first 'proper' gig), Cardiacs were one of the supports. They decimated the front 20 rows of pre-pubescent girls with gut-wrenching bass frequencies. Lovely stuff.

JIM JIM JIM JIM!

My favourite game of the year "left 4 dead 2" was very very closely followed by "killing floor" and I notice that it's not even on the list :o Wot no!

What about half life 2?
that should be game of the year, every year :D

Can't say i've been keeping up to date with games recently, but street fighter is one I'm familiar with!

How so? It looks exactly the same. It's exactly the same premise. Do you really think they couldn't have made the changes as an addon?

]Does HL1 to HL2 change engine? Do the graphics change vastly? How about TF1 to TF2? You see the massive changes there? Bubble Bobble to Rainbow Islands, etc. There's millions of games out there that have absolutely blinding sequels.

There are? I'm sorry if you're too oblivious to see it. Left 4 Dead came with, and i quote: 4 survivors with huge amounts of dialogue, 4 special infected, 4 campaigns coming in at a total of 20 large scale maps, not 20 ****ty churned out Deathmatch maps, 20 well crafted maps and a small assortment of weapons.
Left 4 Dead 2 came with 4 NEW survivors with even more dialogue, 7 special infected (with the original ones redesigned/altered including Female versions of Boomer/Smoker), 5 campaigns with ~20 large scale, well designed maps, a larger set of weapons, new game modes.

If the content of Left 4 Dead 2 sounds like an expansion then you are clearly should be pointing out which games are true 'sequels'. Generic 'well L4D2 isn't a sequel yet others are' is ********, what are these 'others'?

Basically, when I saw the '100 reasons why LFD2 is a true sequel' it made me despair. Basically that someone is sad enough to write that in the first place but the second reason is that the felt the need to write it.

Just lol. Trying to base your reason on the title of a thread is just... laughable. Especially since the thread was created BECAUSE of the all the whiners saying it should be an expansion without any clue at all.

It was a really disappointing year in my opinion. I preferred plants and zombies to most of the titles up there. I voted for Dragon Age since that along with cod4 and grid are the only games I'm playing lately.

Admittedly I haven't yet played SF4

Looking at the voting so far it seems like more of a FOTM poll than for the whole year.

Batman is the clear winner (imo :p)

Have to admit 2009 has not been the best year for gaming...well PC Gaming for that matter. Altho I haven't played Dragon Age, clearly from everyone it has been a very very good game. For me tho, Batman comes right out on top. MW2 was overhyped, especially with THAT announcement, making it probably the worst game ever!

Now to look forward to 2010, where I am hoping to have the likes of:

Bioshock 2
Assassin's Creed II
Crysis 2

And whatever other surprises are thrown in for good measure.

Otherwise nice poll Rich ;)

Dawn of War 2, enjoyed Left 4 Dead 2 and Empire was alright. I've yet to try Dragon Age which hopefully I receive in 2 weeks:D.

But Dawn of War 2 was by far my favourite game of the year, I've just not enjoyed this year as much as last year.

Well, i've completed Batman, FEAR2, NFSS, MW2 and Even though i play Left4Dead 2 the most, Dirt2 excites me more, so 1 vote here for Dirt2.

some you missed that might have got votes

killing floor,
tomb raider underworld,
x3 terran conflict,
plants vs zombies,
need for speed shift,
company of heroes tales of valour,
champions online,
the sims 3.

not me though, but you missed some pretty big titles

As others have pointed out, it's a shame that Plants v Zombies and Torchlight aren't on the shortlist.

An even bigger shame is that E:TW is on it.

Surprised to see so much love for Dragon Age; not because I've played it - I haven't - but I got the impression from reviews/opinions it was generic and got fiendishly difficult very quickly. Might have to give it another look :)
