Having installed this card in a new system it seems to be causing problems.

As things stand the computer wont boot. With power it appears to emit a single continuous tone which I had assumed was motherboard feedback. It's more of a whine than a beep and it disappears when the graphics card is removed from the system leading to a feeling that the noise may be coming from the card itself (Google suggests that were such a noise coming from the motherboard it would be indicating incorrectly positioned RAM). The rest of the machine does seem fine but I can't see any screen feedback as the DVI output from the card doesn't appear to be being picked up by the monitor (the monitor itself runs ok when VGA input is used on other machines - the graphics card only has DVI output so VGA cannot be tested on it). The fan on the card turns ok.

I'd be greatful for any suggestion of how to troubleshoot further or fix this problem. I'm a little stuck as I have no replacement card that I can think of (I have an old Geforce 4 card but this is AGP which doesn't appear to feature on the new motherboard).

Reset cmos on motherboard, remove any non crucial hardware, like sound card, even usb devices etc.

I use the DVI port furthest away from the motherboard, I presume its the primary one, without looking at the instructions.

Let us know if anything helped.

Perhaps you can help me as well, my external usb drive causes my pc to BSOD, only started happening since the 8800 GTX was installed?!

All I've plugged in is the card itself (which has a projection running at its base which fits into the PCI-E slot on the motherboard).

The manuals do mention extra power supplies on the motherboard but I didn't see anything extra to plug in on the graphics card side (any ideas what it should look like?).

I've also tried stripping out the extra bits and pieces (PCI cards, sata and ide cables) and the noise is still there.

Black 6x Pin connector, end of card. :)

Is your power supply beefy enough? i'd recommend at least 600w and that goes for the person who plugs in their usb drive in one of the posts above above
