** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

The real issue is there are not enough manufactures that cover block removal under their warranty. I find it highly retarded that numerous companies show case their hardware using watercooled builds yet don't cover it.

I've had other brands and voided the warranty before, however with cards now reaching such high prices I simply can't afford to risk bricking one of my cards. Therefore EVGA will continue to have my business and its as simple as that really (I'm aware there is come grey area for MSI UK supporting waterblock removal).

Yup got my order changed from FTW for this with EK block for same money pretty much

No brainer will be a whole lot quieter than the EVGA and i can add led's if i wish.....

For the watercoolers this card will be the best value no doubt

I was waiting on this announcement regarding the waterblocks which according to the EVGA rep would be made "soon", that was well over a week ago and still nish...

I think they dropped the ball on the whole water block thing it must have cost them quite a few sales IMHO

If the KFA "Joker" is out the end of this week, I may just consider it over all others because of the price including my current FTW, and knowing I will get a Ti version when it comes out....Then again maybe not. Too bad it doesn't have a back plate but o well, juts will be renting it for 10 - 12 months :D

If i'm just after getting a card in quickly to run a VR HMD, play in 1440p and not too concerned over noise but want something that will last a bit longer than a 1070, do I really need to concern myself with which specific model of 1080 to get?

How big are the differences between the customs / reference going to be?

Know one knows yet if the extra power does help / what is the natural limit of the GPU is before going to LN2.

Okay Thanks, could there be any sort of estimation based on historical releases? 10fps + etc?

May just squeeze an extra 100MHz out if even, e.g 2150 instead of 2050 but definitly not 10FPS, just a frame here and there by then. If you do not plan to overclock but want the best performance, you are better off sticking with a pre-overclocked card that come in at around 1850MHz boosted. Try that with an FE card and will soon reduce to base clock after the heat builds up...

The point is, for FE you are paying more and getting less, that is the only reason why I do not want one.

Nice to know thanks. I work with IT suppliers so can get some nice deals on the cards. around £600 for the FTW or the MSI Gaming X (apparently cost price is very similar), given the little difference's I may just go for better looking of the two.

Damn if I'd of been able to get the G1 instead of my ftw I would have.

Painful having to wait whilst other manufacturers are able to deliver supplies already.

Come on evga

Bad news ..

I honestly wouldn't touch an asus strix without seeing some video showing fan acoustics under gaming load. I know mine are annoyingly loud in either single or dual config, possible they've actually sorted it for the 1080.

Sli is fun, temps matching the framerate :p

What sucks as well, is that we have to wait longer, for what seems is gonna be a small first batch.. What are you in the queue? If you're sub 50, then I guess it doesnt matter for you lol

I really don't know what all the fuss is with Asus, the last strix I had was also noisy too. Asus make some lovely enclosures for monitors and laptops, other than that, my last Asus motherboard was so lousy and unstable, I went over to ASRock, who over 10 years ago was terrible and vowed I would never touch another ASRock motherboard, and I was pleasantly surpised.

...1/2 of the cards made were given away for reviewing. Yawn my IGP is wearing thin like my patients. A few paper launches later and still nothing :'(
