Poll: OcUK London Ride 2015

Thought I'd see if there is any interest for an OcUK London ride. Possible routes and dates can be confirmed later, but I was thinking meet at RP cafe, hilly ride in Surrey with potential cafe stop at G!RO (or similar). We can battle it out on the hills but have a leave no man behind policy.

Well end of May can be ruled out. Asprilla is on holiday and on May 31st I'm doing the Norwich 100 with Steve (going to cali).

I'm not around the last two weekends of April.

Hopefully we'll gradually zero in on a weekend that works for the majority.

It's quite easy to get in Coldharbour, Leith, Whitedown, Ranmore and Box. Possibly add in others like Staple Ln, Crocknorth, Newlands Corner and Coombe Ln.

Barhatch lane too if people are feeling sadistic!

something like RP -> box hill -> back would be quite good imo, would work out at around 80ish miles - that's including my ride to RP

Get a train towards RP?

Going to Box Hill and back is not really a ride!

Winterfold/Barhatch is by far the most unpleasant hill I've done around these parts. Worse than Whitedown and worse than Toys in Kent.

It was in the middle of winter and whilst I was unfit though, so can do better I reckon!

It'll hopefully be nicer/warmer when we do the ride and as it's not something that will happen often I say make a day of it.

I would have come to this but I'm doing the Tour of The Peaks on the 17th May. Only 3,500 meters of climbing

Pfff our ride will be tougher!

Now that the date will be sorted via the poll we can think about the route!

I tried to create some routes from my rides with Strava and it keeps buggering up the elevation. The total gain is off and the elevation graph doesn't match the route. Anyone else having this problem?

They will be okay for purely illustrative purposes. When I pull down the actual GPX file it's all good.

Those routes are fairly typical, they can be a lot more hilly!

That route does Newlands Corner, Shere, Leith, White Down and Box. There is a little detour where we had to go back down Box due to a road closure. Normally we'd head straight up through Headley from Boxhill Rd

In reality it will be slightly shorter as we lapped RP before leaving that day and also had to double back where Box Hill Rd was closed.

I can easily come up with something more hilly/brutal but this is a ride for fun right?

Sorry been away for a week.

So are people happy with the meeting point/time and route? Once we get out to Surrey we can be fairly flexible in altering the route. Also, Box Hill for the cafe stop?

Strava isn't showing the elevation correctly for some reason. It's more like 6000ft.

As I said it's easy to shorten the route by avoiding some of the hills.
