OcUK Mafia game thread - Game 1

I for one welcome our new Mafia overlords :p

Sorry Burnsy, I figured you were something and it was a 50/50 shout. it would always be difficult calling for Pookie or Kiyoshi as the lynch victim as they could gang and fix.

Will be interesting in the next game if the roles are called after death.

True, but something like that is a key sign that you should be looking out for. Next game I'm going to expand the day by 24 hours as I'd like to see more discussion between the players, and the chance for people to really interrogate each other.

It was weird though and I'm not sure the length of the day really made much difference. It only really started to heat up on the last day once a vote had been made. I think it was a bit of a learning curve for most people and I expect any more games to be a lot more interactive as people will learn from the first game. Having a 72 hour day might just extend the game too long (especially over the weekend).

I also expect that in future games, those who speak little are likely to get lynched first up - much like in the first game, well, the second and third lynchings anyway were partly prompted by inactivity - the first by an early vote!

I just suggest people speak up more - some of the accusations and comments in the first game lead to some very funny moments for me :D

I see your point on the time frames, but increasing up to 13 players means there are likely to be people who can only be on at certain times, so I would want to give them enough time to reply to defend themselves.

From an outsiders perspective there seemed to be an awful lot of 'nothing' comments that were just filler rather than any coherent attempt by the town to reason out who the Mafia may be. I guess with only 9 players and no reveals the game transitioned very quickly from the early phase of very little information and basically guesswork, to the endgame with very little time in between for meaningful conclusions to be drawn. A bigger game with reveals should help with that.

I'm sure this will improve after a couple more games as people get their head around how the game mechanics work and how to get reads on people and manipulate the lynchmob.
