So I was considering setting up a board game meet anyway, but this seemed a good excuse.

http://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/

It runs from Friday 30th May until Sunday 1st June 2014 and tickets go onsale just before Easter. There are rooms available at the NEC Hilton Metropole in Birmingham at £63 per night as a single or £104 for a twin, which you can book now and I would recommend booking early. I was thinking that it makes sense to try and get there on the Thursday as the gaming starts 9:30am on the Friday and therefore stay three nights.

It might be worth booking twin rooms and people doubling up to share and save some cash. Midnight nookie is optional.

So who's in?

On a more serious note, I'll have a word with the other half's brother. He's well into his board games, so we may be in attendance.

I already have the time booked off work - just need to sort out somewhere to stay and in the Hilton sounds perfect :p

I'll check finances and get on that ASAP - either way count me in! :D

(Oh and CAH is mandatory! :D)

Due to work, the wife and I will only be there for the Saturday day/night and Sunday daytime, but count us in! We'd definitely be up for getting together when the trade halls close for some gaming and drinks on Saturday. :)

FYI, for those interested in coming that want to get a bit boozy: The bar is pretty expensive, and the rooms don't have minibars or fridges to keep your drinks cold.

Nobody said a word to me when I was cracking open the beers in the gaming hall on Saturday night, though, so this year I'm just bringing a few beers in a cooler bag and storing them in the room until the evening.

Hip flasks and pre-mixed cocktails ftw! :p

'I'll have a coke please' (And probably still £2 :/)

I went there for a Discworld Convention a few years ago. It was quicker to order room service to our table 5 metres from the bar than it was to go to the bar. And they charged extra for the privilege (but it was worth it to see the looks on some dehydrated faces).
I might be away thinking about it, will know closer to the time.

If it doesn't clash with the Warmachine National Championship (since they broke away from the Expo) then I could be convinced. I'd probably spend most of my time at the warmachine tables though :p

Holy Necro!

The expo is just a month away now, so I'm sure most people's plans are arranged. Anyone taking part in any of the tournaments? Memoir '44, Pandemic :The Cure, 7 Wonders and Lords of Waterdeep for me :)

Who is up for a bit of a meet and greet and game?

I keep putting off plans for this despite having the time off booked and the hotel rooms are silly prices now, even for 1 night! (~100pp,pn!)

I could drive down in the small hours and make a day of it so to speak but it's a hell of a long way from here and would feel kinda rushed :/

Still not very sure! :(

That's a helluva long way to drive for a day trip. The first time that I went, we were in a travelodge a little distance from the venue (a short drive). Gotta be worth a look? As far as I'm aware, there isn't anything else similar in the UK.
