OcUK Meet: UK Game Expo 30th May to 1st June 2014

WANT. EXPO. NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. :D:p

Really looking forward to this year. Gonna try and save a bit more cash to splash about on games than we had last year. I hope the Backspindle Games guys are going to have another 'Luchador: Mexican Wrestling Dice' tournament. I'll be bringing a copy with me anyway. :D

In terms of meetup, shall we all design and wear some super-trendy OcUK hats or what?

  • Friday afternoon I will try to attend after work
  • Saturday at some point
I live in Wolves so I will be heading back at some point, but I am up for evening gaming.

I will either print off an OcUK badge or bring a loaf of bread to identify myself .

I'm going to this with a few mates, staying for the Friday/Sat night just up the road. Staying at the Holiday Inn a mile or so up the road if anyones about, say hi!

Punch it!!

I am getting tempted to go on Sunday, actually involve my gf in the games we are buying instead of buying them and going "yeah you will like this" not got one wrong yet but still :P that's my excuse for wanting to go XD

Annoyingly for the first time this year I have a wretched cold on the one weekend I cannot rearrange.

I am going to try and go today, but because I will be of little use feeling like this and also don't want to risk spreading my germs around, I decided not to play anything yesterday or today.

Just got home a short while ago. Had a great time this year, but didn't "discover" any new stuff as great as 'Luchador!' was last year.

Parking at the hotel was an absolute nightmare due to people seemingly not giving two ****s about how/where they parked, sprawling over lines and generally making it a pain. As we were staying at the hotel overnight, I felt that the Hilton really ought to have a section of the car park set aside for guests only.

We didn't get a chance to head to the open gaming spaces in the evening, as we went down to the bar to get some food and that ended up being an odyssey of stressed staff and disgruntled customers due to service which moved like molasses. I was two minutes away from giving up and just ordering a Dominos pizza as I was annoyed to the point that I actually resented paying Hilton £16 for a burger with service as shocking as it was. Since the wife is fussy with food, however, we did end up eating at the bar eventually -- except by the time we were done, having set off from the Executive Lounge upstairs at around 7:45, it was hitting 10pm. Went back up to the Exec. Lounge to discover they closed at 10 and locked the booze away at 8 (which IMO is just poor. Crowne Plaza's executive lounges are much better -- open until 11pm, with alcohol freely available from 7. I usually load up on it just before it closes and take some to my room.)

So, the wife and I ended up in our room playing a few games and then headed to bed so we could be up for breakfast.

Spent most of yesterday wandering the Trade Halls repeatedly, so actually played very little, hahaha. Still, came away with a nice load of loot, and a very angry wallet!
