OcUK Poker Thread.

I don't find that there is enough action to keep me 'entertained' 6 handed. I prefer playing multi tables, of 9+.

Isn't it the case that there's MORE action short handed?

I think the reason is because most players learn to play 9/10 handed first (like me). Strategy is different when playing short handed, and it's not easy to just jump from 9/10 handed to 6. The better players seem to be on 6max too (just my feeling) and so profitable players would stay in their comfort zone of 9/10 handed tables, while those who are bad would usually get eaten up in 6max.

way more action SH, that's just a fact

at 9 handed you can profitibly sit and wait for the nuts

at 6 max you're forced to steal

if you're good enough then 6max is where the money is made, because your edge(or defecit) over the other players is amplified

Got my first straight flush today and it won me a tournament pretty chuffed!

Guess he was hoping you hadn't paired, let alone made trips.

Was a ridiculous bet though..

Yeah, I don't get the "desperate bluff" attempt. Picked off people trying that all tournament long, just sat back and let them try it. That was a beauty though. Needed top 2 for a ticket to the next satellite, I was CL on 190k when 2nd (89k) pushed from SB on my BB, I called with A9 and he hit his 8. Next hand I pushed the short stack all in with A8, he had AT and I hit my 8 to knock him out and win it.

Funny old game.. :p

Doing fairly well in my live league games on Sundays too. 2 weeks to go, top 2 qualify for regional finals, and I'm currently 2nd. Leader's on 600pts, I'm on 560, 3rd in on 510, 4th is on 500. Eek.

Damn, went out in 6th. Played superbly though if I may say so, and went down to 4k with 13 left and got to 40k within 8 hands. Sod all after that, got a bit impatient and pushed with 2nd pair and of course, someone's always bloody got top pair. Still, a good run.

1 week to go, leader's on 660, I'm on 630, 3rd's on 560 and the only one that can catch me. 7th (out of 11 or 12) gets me into the regional final. Lets see if I can better Rotty by one and win the damn thing :p

Oops. This is why you shouldn't play 10 tables when you have a $3k stack! Complete lapse of concentration. Should really be folding turn against this player (he was a bit of an aggro monkey, but an unsophisticated one at that so don't expect him to be bluffing here), but I guess he roped me in well with his bet sizes.

And now for some more enjoyable pots:
Lovely setup: http://www.pokerhandreplays.com/view.php/id/1839456

I reckon a lot of people would have called there. I sat there thinking "surely not A3, can only have 10-10?". He played it pretty well to be fair, I'm surprised he had KK to be honest, a re-raise from the $270 would have given it away big time though. Bit unlucky, but like you said, against an aggressive player it's sometimes hard to give them credit for a real hand :p

Ouch, you could have been burned big time there!

I think the re-raise to 270 pre flop shows hes got a strong pocket pair, I was expecting him either to turn over 10s or As and like you said you really should have folded on the flop but it is a hard thing to do with hands like pocket queens.

Thats why Im not a big fan of JJ or QQ they are hard to fold but can be beaten quite easily.

Won my first live game last night, 6 people 5 quid buy in, with 2 rebuys!!
Trip 9's to win against someone who went all in with 2 pair!
Really Really enjoyed it and will be looking to play more!
