Yeah I have asked this before and has got interest, but we need to find another way of arranging it as it's not allowed to be done on the forum

I think I found my fav game type... Full Tilt Rush poker. Just came 9th out of 330 people, won $27, should have done better really!

Well, I lost all my $27 I won playing rush poker, and another $10 I deposited. FML. I really like rush poker, but I kept playing stupid hands and not analyzing the flop to see what they had. Not going to deposit anymore for a while, think I'm addicted. I keep sayin to myself I can play highly in a rush game again but just keep screwing up :@

Totally in the same situation as you mate, deposited like £50 at the weekend and lost it playing in nonsense MTT turbo tournaments because the thought of possibly winning $500 from a £12 entry is to appealing.

I have also been misreading situations when getting tired and not paying full enough attention. Sometimes playing overly aggressive when I know I am beat and immediately regretting it. Strange thing is my girlfriend was playing a bit this morning and when looking at it from the outside I was making much better decisions.

Oh my god man! Exactly the same! Next door had a huge house party last night so didnt sleep hence why i wss playing poker, so was tired making stupid decisions. I like multi table tournys, it suites my tight agressive playstyle and Im quite good at blind stealing. I cant believe i placed 9th out of 350, and thats what spurred me on to play when tired, and i rinsed my bankroll.

Also yea, i just told my friend to try a rush poker mtt, i told him what to do every hand and he placed top 20 out of 350.

Sorry if crap spellin sent from phone

Had such a bad beat tonight at the casino tournament.

3 of us in hand. I am holding A2, flop comes 10A2. guy next to me bets 2.5k, other guy calls. I raise it to 5k. guy next to me goes all in, which will put me all in. 2nd guy folds and I call him.

He turns over a pair of 6's... you can see where this is going :( hits his 6 on the turn and that is me out. What a joke of a call.

I'm wondering if you guys can help me figure out where to start. I'd like to get more involved with poker. I'm going to Vegas next Tuesday and I plan to play a live tournament but when I return I'm going to put some money aside to start playing poker with. Not a substantial amount, perhaps £150-£250 to get me going.

In the past I have played ring games and tournaments. I especially enjoy the STT's with the double or nothing turbo games being particularly appealing. However, I have been playing outside of my bankroll and the turbo games can be hit I miss. I don't think it's necessarily the way to start other than it being a convenient laugh.

My bankroll management is something I'll address straight away. Normally I'll play poker if I win £20 on a football accumulator then play $5/6 tournaments. I normally do ok but a few games of not placing and I'm bust.

I have been reading the twoplustwo forums and it's like another world. I need a better place to start to get me up to speed (including the terminology). For example, should I be playing micro ring games or micro tournaments to really learn the game? I also need to improve my working out of odds etc. I have a few books to read so I hope to improve in the future.

First you need to decide what game & type you want to play, STT, MTT or ring games then the game type, 6max, Full ring etc and most importantly the form of poker.

Read the stickies on 2+2 in your preferred area, though start with the beginners FAQ.

Then start at the bottom and work your way up. Perhaps look at training sites, (CR, DC, Leggo or Bluefire for example) most give a 7 day free trial where you can watch videos on-line rather than downloading but it would be a start

After a bit of advice.

Im currently playing on Pokerstars with free money. Been playing for awhile on and off. I tend to make money but i seem to lose out with flushes way to much vs full house. Need to analyse the board more after the flop. I've started watching / reading some poker guides on some website, forget the name but has made me rethink how i play the game.

I'm wondering if its worth to play with free money anymore or just switch to playing with actual money with low ish blinds. I find a lot of people shove / bid a lot on free money because well its free which gets annoying. I've played poker with a friends a bit as well.

If your familar with the software and the type of game you are playing i would suggest its time for real money, depending on the site, you will find games as low as $0.01 anyway.

Real money is a different beast, those guys will be less likely to call you with their draws when they have to go to their bank card for more chips instead of hitting the refresh my chips button!

my biggest tip would be to look into bank roll management, you never want to risk to much or you will be mentally handicapping yourself. When i started i wouldnt use more than 5% of my bankroll on one game, now i have a bigger roll its more like 1% at a time.

GOOD LUCK!

Got to hurt

HUSNGs are a decent way to build a 4 figure roll. and then switch to 50nl/100nl. Also get a flat euro rakeback deal if your going to play cash so u can breakeven and still make the monies. gl

Plus tool up. You'll need;
free; combinator, pokerstove, tablescan turbo for cash, stackandtile if you want to multitable.
pay; for pt3/hem, sngwhiiz for sngs, flopzilla,

Rather than trawl through the thread, can someone recommend a good poker book for newcomers to improve their game with? I played on and off a few years ago for around a few months, and over the last month I have re-started playing. Cheers. :)
