Would love to get down to d2d, but not sure my Bankroll would agree if it's $200+ buy-ins! I'm mainly a $50NL cash game player on Stars, so would probably be getting involved in a few cash games and a max $100 tourney.....they have these?!

First hand is a raise pre-flop imo - when you get re-raised with your 66 you could think about foldingJust got dumped out of a live £20 freezeout in spectacular fashion
157 entries, 102 left, blinds 400-800 and me with 75k chips (probably overall chip lead, but no idea - massive lead at my table though). A new guy moved to my table with about 40k chips, two seats to my left. Five maybe six hands of folding and I know precisely nothing about him apart from that he might be a little tight. Got dealt 66 in middle position, limped in after action was folded to me and called a raise to 3000 from this guy. Flopped a full house (633), checked it, then called a 7000 chip raise (overbet of the century I thought...). Turn was a 5 and I bet half the pot in the hope that this guy was messing around with a straight draw and had hit his straight, he instantly shoved all-in. Instant call from me and he showed aces... Of course he hit his ace on the river, which I took in good humour and shrugged it off as "one of those things".
A few hands of inactivity from me and I was on the button looking down at black aces. Everyone folds to me and I decide to raise to 2400. Small blind folds, same guy from above hand calls. Flop comes down AK10 all diamonds. It gets checked to me and I realise that I could get in serious trouble if another diamond comes down so I fire 3000 chips. Gets raised to 6000 (strangest raise I have ever seen with hindsight) and I'm a little suspicious of him having made the flush already - I hoped that he had so that I could double up if I made a house. Turn is the ace of hearts giving me quads. I might have decided to bet, but I didn't want to represent AK or A10 making a full house. The other guy bets half the pot and I decide that it is time to shove. Instant call from me and he flips QJd... It felt like half of the room came over to have a look at the river after somebody shouted out the details of the hand. Probably had 25 people tell me how unlucky I was, but I still feel like crap - this is the second time that I have had quad aces busted by a royal flush... Isn't that suposed to be a once in a lifetime badbeat???
I was planning on playing the cash game if I got knocked out early, but I thought best avoiding any kind of tilt! I'm supposed to be playing in the £100 marathon freezeout tomorrow, but I don't think I can show my face in the casino for a while after tonight.![]()
I wouldn't fold, but since he had AA and was likely to re-raise you heavily you might have been able to lay it down then.

. Eventually, I took my money to the £5/5 game and was slightly disappointed to find they weren't quite so aggressive there, but I left at about 3.30am with £700. Pretty profitable night, but I am still gutted about the hand in the itsy bitsy teeny weeny £10 rebuy tourney!

Wow, reading this thread really makes me want to start playing poker properly. Sounds like there is a lot of potential to make some decent money.
Where you lads recommend I start? Is PKR still good?
Obviously I've got a lot of learning to do (as demonstrated in the recently poker tournies!) but I'm a gambling man with rakes of spare time.

Didn't want to start a new thread - sorry to dig an old one up, but just had to rant a bit.
I'm getting sick of online poker. I know exactly what replies are going to say - "they lose in the long run" but I find that they DON'T, and it's idiots who chase miracles and catch.
I've been done over no less than 5 times in the last 3 days my absolute miracle outdraws. Whenever I go into idiot mode (which is VERY rare), I never catch a bloody cold, so why do these idiots (mostly swedish) think that playing an inside straight draw is a good hand every time?
Example 1:
I'm holding Ac Ah and raise it to 5x BB - I'm on 1,800 on a 6-seat table, blinds 40/80, 1 limper. 1 caller, 3c-4c-7c flop. I bet the pot which puts the caller all in, and he has Qc 5d. 6h comes on the turn and no club on the river for me.
Example 2:
The same tournament - I ended up coming back from 500 chips to win the table (shootout tourny) and getting to the FT. I have KJ, limped pot.
Flop: K-9-2, rainbow. I bet out, guy min raises but I'm a little suspicious and call. 10 turn, I check, he makes a small bet so I call. Junk card (maybe 4?) on the river, and I'm down to 500 chips so just push but even said in the chat "I know you have QJ, it's obvious" - I was correct, as bloody usual.
I really am sick and tired of it. I even try overbetting the pot but still get called and outdrawn.
End of rant, but it's sickening.![]()
What's a limper?
