OcUK Poker Thread.

Just started again myself. I've played a fair bit and I can't remember ever getting a royal :( Bet that felt good tho :)

I've never seen it come up in an actual real game, I did come home to find my son playing a few hands with Mrs. Feek for fun one evening and he had it but didn't realise what he'd got!

I've seen a friend have a straight flush (8-9-10-J-Q) playing for real once but never had it myself!

I only do play money these days and the occasional free roll games that show up. I'm in no way confident enough in my abilities to start playing for real money!

I reckon once I'm at the point that I manage to come out of 10 consecutive play money tournaments in profit I'll take the plunge.

Nice stuff

had 1 in live play and about 4 online :)

Whole different game to be honest.

I don't play like that at all myself, tbh, and I get VERY annoyed with people that do even in play money situations.

If you think you're ready then there's nothing wrong with depositing £10 somewhere and playing penny tables to get used to a real game. Once you feel comfortable, you can play other games like Multi-Table Tournaments, small Sit and Go's (<$1 I'd suggest) and build yourself a little bankroll from there. It's easily done at the smaller games, I turned 9c on Absolute Poker into $27 in about 3 hours. Pain in the backside grinding through the small tables but once you learn the players around you, they're easy to mug :p

Hahaha. That's my main problem at the moment...I find it hard to pick out the blatant pot-grabbers to those who actually have a good hand. I tend to tar everyone as a bluffer.

Nicely done!

If you really know what you're doing, I'd say poker, not ruddy sports lol. An exhousemate used to rack up about £200/month that way, unless you get really lucky on sports I doubt you'll get anywhere near that amount for example in that time.

its pointless tbh... unless you are a complete novice and barely know what hands are what then just play for micro stakes

seriously whats say £20 to you?

For something that you're presumably willing to put an hour or two of your effort into every so often why not just play some really low stake SnG tournaments. Just that fact that you're playing for some money (albeit a very very small sum) will change things. You shouldn't need confidence to potentially blow £20 over a period of time especially when you'll presumably be having several hours of entertainment along the way. How much would you be willing to spend on a computer game that you might only play for a few weeks then get bored of? Ideally you shouldn't be losing at those levels anyway if you're putting some amount of effort into studying the game but then again most people do.

I'm not looking to make something quick, just build it bit by bit. I have a very good knowledge of most popular sports so that's not a problem. Only had 2 very small bets tonight but was fairly confident in them and they came up at 9/1 and 5/1 to set me going.

Ive played a large amount of poker and have never had a straigh flush let alone a royal flush the best ive had is quads
