OcUK Poker Thread.

I am at a loss about today

417 runner 50 quid rebuy at DTD

1st entry AK , flop AK3 , run into 33

2nd Entry AQ , flop AKQ , run into KK

3rd Entry A9 , flop AT9 , run into 99

went to cash table and then, on as 852 board, bloke bets 15 into 45, I jam flop for 80 with JJ , A on turn, he called with AQ

only bright spot was cocky bloke declaring on river of a 100 quid pot "sorry mate I've rivered you" and showed his full house

"ah bugger, suppose my quads are no good then" :p

POS outcome is that I am down 300+ on the night :(

at least managed an extremely small profit today, not even worth winning but at least straightened me out

quite a bit on over next couple of months

Vegas in 3 weeks, then a 1090 quid buy in at DTD that we are going to run a home game sat for and put someone in, august DTD have a 50 euro game which has a guarantee set at 5000 players and late august I am off to Atlantic City for a bit

How much was the buy in? I play Omaha and often triple up quite quickly. However, i often get bored and end up losing it all :(

Its not a lot like £10.00 to the table every now and then

me and my mates have been playing poker regularly for the last few months which doubles as a social gathering and we normally get around 4-6 of us playing. we are fairly new to poker and we've noticed that the pace of the game sometimes doesn't feel quite right and was wondering if any of you regulars had any tips for chip counts, starting stacks, and how often to increase the blinds?

so what we have is:

a 500 piece chip set and the denominations are: $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, $500, $1000 (these are already written on the chips.) which of these chips should we be using and how much? we currently use all of them and our starting stacks are about 10 of the smallest value chips, gradually decreasing to a couple of the highest value chips.

we currently double the blinds every 1-2 full rounds of the table but this system seems to up the pace way too much towards the end, especially when players get knocked out and it does't feel right. we want to try upping the blinds at timed intervals instead but we don't know how we should go about this? maybe we should be lowering the amount the blinds go up too? we normally expect games to last ~2-3 hours

also we currently don't play for any real money if that makes any difference.

any help is appreciated :)
