OcUK Poker Thread.

When you get $10 together, start playing in freerolls and 1c/2c cash tables.

Those even worth playing? Please just go all in and pray.

I'd stick with low (25c to 1.50c) one or 2 table sit and go games. Best way to up your exp!

BOOOOOOOOOO, made £30 in just over 2 days. Withdrew that. Had around £10 left, started playing and had some bad losses.

Then I added another £7. Flopped a full house and went all in, someone called and the turn card was an ace followed by another ace on the river. Turns out he had pocket aces :/

Was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Going to deposit more money on payday :).

I really want to get decent at poker (played a little bit on Pokerstars), but I'm not sure I've got the patience. I did try playing 2 tables at the same time, which seemed to combat the impatience a little bit :D

Just logged onto Full Tilt poker and Tom Dwan is sitting on 6 tables with near a $1m spread over.

Some crazy bets going on!

Wow, what a win! Does he play poker full time, or was this just a random entry?!

Random entry, his brother bought him the buy in for a Xmas present :) he's just a casual player, never had a big win before

AFAIK it's the first time he's played it

Hi guys, I've been playing for a few months now and I love Poker, however I have a few questions.

How do you guys play AK, KQ AJ, KJ etc? I seem to limp in as I've come to notice I have as much chance to hit as I do with 7,10! I used to raise pre flop but now I just limp, if someone raises I call.

I'm pretty successful on tables, I seem to win most of the time and I feel I can read players well and make the correct bets (online and offline poker). However, when playing in online tables with bigger stakes (for example 1$/2$ Blinds (my account is currently around $47 which I have worked up from $15)) I play bad poker, I'm too worried about the money I'm going to lose, for example If I know I can go aggressive and buy the pot but I will hold off because of the money I might lose :/! How do you get over this fear?

Do we have a OcUK poker tourny or anything up? We should!!!!

Generally raise pre flop if opening. Call or re-raise if there's been action before you depending on how you've seen your opponents play and what you're trying to achieve in the hand.

Bear in mind KQ KJ could be a bit dodgy especially if you're playing after a raise or if you get re-raised as you're often already behind to AK, AQ, AJ. You can lose a lot of money on those hands.

If you're just starting out don't limp either raise or fold if it's unopened when the action gets to you.

Don't play scared money. Drop down to stakes your comfortable playing.

Read 2+2, loads of help stuff on there if your starting out.

If you have $47 in your account you should NOT be playing $1/$2 cash. The general rule of thumb for cash games is that you should have between 20 and 30 buy ins for the stakes you are playing. I.e. the normal buy in for $1/$2 is $200. You should have approximately $4,000 to $6,000 in your account to justify playing this level. This is why you play 'different' at the higher stakes.... because your playing with everything in your account and its therefore 'scared' money. Based on the hand scenarios you have given and the questions you have asked you should be playing as small stakes as possible till you grasp the game a bit more, otherwise you will most likely lose a lot of money.

Try playing $0.02/$0.05 cash games or $3 sit n goes and try and build up your bankroll as you learn.

As previous poster said - read 2+2 forums for good advice.

Good luck :)
