OCUK programming project?

Actually, I think the idea was we were using the game programming side as a device in which to teach people programming. I don't think at any point anyone seriously thought making a 3D game was a good idea (though I think it may have been suggested but the idea got dismissed rather rapidly), we were just making a 2D slot car racer game in Java. The whole thing kind of lost traction, though which was unfortunate as it was going well up to a point.

One thing I'd like to bring up though is in one poll we asked how many people interested in working on the project had experience with whichever programming languages, we got a huge amount of votes for Java, but when it came down to it, very, very few people who really wanted to work on the project seemed to be experienced with Java but at that point we seemed to be commited to working in Java and tried to soldier on anyway.

Well like all things on the internet it needs a few people to dedicate time to it. And it became clear (at least to me) that the amount of people willing to dedicate a few hours was very low (lots of credit to lightnix and blackvault for their efforts and even skippi for joining in).

For me half way through I just got very very very busy with work. Shame really as it would have been nice to follow it through.

I was in the process of finishing my degree, moving house and starting a new job, so to say i was busy was a bit of an understatement!

I have more time for this sort of thing now things have settled back down again.
