Since the 290X cooler fits on the 5700/XT I don't see why not. Placement is the same on the PCB, the chip is smaller.
Is no different than all other GPU PCBs made the last 7 years.

Thanks. I assume that would be the standard Morpheus rather than the Vega specific one.

I think it's been pointed out that the 2070S are basically cut-down cards that don't make the grade for the 2080, but one do have to wonder if they are using grade A chip for the 2070S across the board, or may be B chip for the lower price models and A chip for the higher priced model.

One thing I find annoying is that pretty much most chips that are used for reviews are A chips, and then the market get flooded with cards that has B chip that don't perform as well as what's shown in reviews. That's pretty much bait and switch (unless you are fortunate enough to get a A chip card).

Yes I always buy AIB cards and avoid blowers. But this time I might get a blower and take the hit on something like a Morpheus. Over several card changes it might actually work out cheaper and quieter long term. Blowers always seem to be cheaper new and on the used market. Looks don't bother me as I'm not interested in LED gaming bling bling.

I *think* I'd be ok with a blower, but the option of aftermarket at some stage is a great option to have (esp the additional o/c headroom we'd get!!) :)

There are no A and non A chips since around May. Hence the S models.

Glad to hear that.

At least now if anyone getting the 2070S they wouldn't have to worry performance difference between the cheaper cards and the more expensive cards, they can just go for the lowest price one with a good brand that has good warranty cover and they are set.

I wrote elsewhere today, 2070S for Nvidia fans, Gsync etc, is the best card at £475. Anything more like those £530-550 cards, cannot be justified over the 5700XT.
As the 2080 price cannot be justified, doubt the 2080S price would be either, against the £475 2070S.
And wrong 2080S also, because I doubt Nvidia would pull another similar move with 2080S to bring it close to the money making 2080Ti. Also the 2080 - 2080Ti perf gap is vast. A 10% increase leads to nowhere meaningful both in RT and non RT performance. So 2070S is great card £475. Which however has a 5700XT breathing at it's neck at £380.

5700XT has starting point £380. A sheer £100 less sitting with the cheapest 2060S. almost half the 2060S OCUK has, are expensive at the 5700XT Anniversary Edition (£412) price range. And 2060S is card of far lesser performance.

I just watched that Jay2cents vid and whilst the 5700XT beat the 2060 S in most games, you have other things like Raytracing, DXR, Ansel but if it is sheer performance you want at that price range, the 5700XT wins IMO.

Ray Tracing on the 2060S will be mediocre at best and supported by a small number of games. I don't know why anyone would base a card purchase below the 2080S on a feature they can barely use. DXR is ray tracing also and Ansel is nice but not exactly amazing. I have had a 1080Ti for 2 years and never used it.

2060S RT is no better than the 2070 RT performance.

They were just options/reasons for people to consider. RT on low will work fine on the 2060S but again, if that is of no interest, the 5700XT has the better raw performance.

I’d not be surprised even if 5700 has more raw performance as the 5700XT is very powerful.

If AMD hasn't just cull the chip on it's creation, and the 1800 speed clock is just in BIOS or driver registry restriction (as is rumoured), I won't be surprised either if we see some funny numbers here.

im swaying towards grabbing one, seems like such a good price. I'm just not sure about the blower, which I am lead to believe isn't that bad.
