OcUK RX9070 Series Review Thread

So AMD managed to hit it in off the post rather than miss the open goal entirely.

- Big improvement in RT
- Big improvement in FSR (better than DLSS3 and not as good as DLSS4 but still much improved according to DF)
- Slower than AMD marketing alleged (expected) but still not by a considerable margin.
- Power consumption is acceptable but Nvidia still ahead there.

So overall a win by default and to be fair the 9070XT is a great GPU in its own right. Far better than the 5070 and just a touch worse than a 5070Ti for a lot less cost. Though that 9070 needs a price cut, sorry it’s just meh.

Well done AMD, you didn’t miss an opportunity for once.
Two variables remain to be seen and will only come to light over next weeks:
  • Actual street price. We've already seen a major uptick from MSRP/RRP from AIBs and resellers. Not as vomit-and-vitriol-inducing as nV, but still.
  • What the janitor screamed when he jumped out of the office closet. We know intial stock is good, but to be seen if a) AMD keeps cranking out the cards over next months, and b) if scalpers scoop up all initial supply

Probably the best summary. 1-0 in the 89th minute. Keeper fumbled & the ball went in off the post. A convincing win? No. And in truth, everyone expected better. But a win is a win

Yeah, I’m actually impressed with the 9070, almost 7900XT performance in raster and considerably faster in RT. It’s just the price in comparison to the XT version. If the 5070 is a terrible GPU for that price, the the 9070 is only marginally less crap.

So slightly faster than 7900XT but not as fast as 7900XTX is that the conclusion?

I don't think its worth upgrading 7900XT for then unfortunately, even though price is good.

Eh?

It's clearly much closer to the 7900xtx than the 7900xt.

The memory temps seem to be on the high side and these are the better Aib cards lol , wonder what the throttling temp is

The Nitro+ seems to be dolled up like a tart
It's the same with women .... all looks, no substance

Was thinking of replacing my 3080 FE with one @ 1440p.. but It's not quite enough of a jump I feel.
I'm in similar situation, albeit UW1440p.

I was finally hoping to hit the +50% improvement in raster and RT around the same cost as my 3080fe.

Same here. Still not quite enough of an uplift for me. The 3080 runs 1440p fine - I want a 4K card and this just isn't quite it. Anything other than MSRP and it's an even worse proposition.

Anyone else on a RTX 3090 maybe taking a look at these?

Edit: nah, doesn't look worth it. As much as I want to support this launch and effort to actually give gamers an option and effort to get stock out.

don't forget Gibbo said only the first 100 cards of each model will be sold at MSRP and then the prices jump.
