** OcUK SEARCH ISSUES: IF YOU HAVE ISSUES WITH OcUK SEARCH LET US KNOW!! **

maybe at the bottom of the basket page?

As long as its not near the update basket or checkout buttons, maybe right at the top next to "your basket", as most people will want to check through there basket before they buy (so the checkout button needs to be at the bottom)..

Whereas people speccing just want it empty..

This +1. The site is in need of modernising with a nice clean and fresh UI.

And I know it's been discussed on the forum before, but the forums in need of an upgrade too.

A nice site design update would be nice and then a matching forum design would be nice, and updating vB.

I don't agree with this, I really like the look and feel of the website and find it very easy to navigate.

I'd have to agree. Whilst a fresh new GUI may look nice and even feel quicker OcUK's shop has has to be, imo, the easiest to navigate and find products of most if not all of its main etailer competitors.

Went to PSU's, selected NZXT in the Sub Category drop-down... Then noted the Manufacturer drop-down then contains NZXT and Thermaltake...?

Think the problem there is having the Manufacturers listed under both drop downs!

More filters when searching would be nice, eg search "651-850 Watt", "Antec" then select between "Modular/non" "Passive cooling/Active cooling" "White/Black"

Yup if you refine to much then it freaks out and resets itself.

Gibbo, can I be honest? You'd be better off starting from scratch don't allocate your dev time to fixing something. That site has been on here for donkeys years it'd be good to modernize bring the design into this era, and yes it would take a few months and cost a lot of money but it'd be better than throwing money at an old template.

This, honestly. It would be a nightmare trying to bring in a new dev to update old and outdated code. Much better to have it re-written, it would be cleaner, faster and easier to maintain.

I would third this, you have a lot of security issues with your search sanitisation too, wouldn't like to see you on the hacked list.

^ +1

You have to click search twice for it to show a product

Also, if you choose a manufacturer and then sort by price - it resets the manufacturer filter

This is the only one that bothers me.

Yes! It has bugged me for years. I almost always sort by price, then show all items, then have to sort by price again. I always forget which way around I have to do it too.

The site may look a bit old, but it's very easy to navigate. If the functionality of some of the pages (eg the above problem) was improved, I would leave it as-is. That said, if there's a cleaner way to do it, I'm all for it.

On the iPhone, when trying to search it will only let you put in 1 character at a time so eg click search 'p' click search 's' click search 'u'

I have to agree with a few posters. I find OCUk's shop site one of the easiest to navigate of any online retailer. It would be a shame if in you efforts to fix the search function and you do decide its better to redesign as suggested, that you drastically change the layout and product presentation. It's organized (and looks it) and you can see all in compact format should you wish.

Speaking from experience there are a number of sites that I rarely bother to check regularly anymore and others grudgingly due to their "modern and fresh" revamp. Several are your competitors! Product navigation and selection viewing is such a chore on those sites that I only ever check to compare after first coming here.

As a suggestion, what about a site/theme optimised for mobile/tablets? Would make life much easier and would keep you competitive amongst other stores.

A redesign does not mean making it hard to use.

The only thing I'd ask of them to do for phones and tablets is to use CSS as a large amount of the images they use could be done with CSS (albeit have a fall back for old browsers).

I don't think there is anything fundamentally wrong with the site layout or functionality, a complete redesign is unnecessary imo. Whether it would be easyer for the developers though is another story but you could still replicate the current front end.

My annoyances for the site in general.

1. Search results aren't preserved when sorting the list unless you sort first then narrow down. So Price > Antec and not Antec > Price. (Note: this is a regression, it got fixed for a short while then broke again and has been broken for quite some time.)

2. Page Number links on the forum could be bigger to make them easyer to hit, it's not quick or easy with high mouse sensitivity settings.

3. The forum won't load now and again, although the site loads fine. A tracert to the forum shows the problem to be on your hosts network:
