hey dont know which section this should be in so mods feel free to move it!

Do OCUK build custom PCs rather than buying the parts and doing it yourself and if so how much do they charge and how long would you expect to wait for it? i have no doubt they would do it to a high quality just wondered what the drawbacks were

If they do do it then i'd imagine the only drawback would be that you'd have to pay loads for the service

i had a look and unlike most ocuk services this diddnt look too good (:o shock horror i know) i looked at the most expensive (overclocked) PC spec, and without spending the £40 to get them to OC it they charged £288.64 (from my calculations) that is absoloutely ridiculous! thats enough to buy the case heatsink ram hard drive and Blu-ray reader!

also looked at the cheapest of the cheap that they do and that still charges almost 150 which in that case is worth more than the components!

i will, its for a friend and he asked me to do it said hed pay me i thought if ocuk did it cheap i could tell him to get them to do it but it looks like it would be cheaper for me to do it as i would never charge that much! also he can then choose exactly what he wants not just what OCUK fancies, was really surprised and i expected yet more good preformance but i have been let down!

do a search in GH for build log or OCUK build log, something like that.

They do a pretty good job in terms of build quality.

Compared to pre-built systems at other computers stores, they are good value and quality. And anyway, its an enthusiast store, the only people that buy them either; Doesn't have time to build a system from scratch, or can't be bothered.

+1, i don't think it is unreasonable to expect a charge if they build it. and the aftersales service is good so if you have any problems they will sort you out.

Besides, if you want different parts I am sure you can call/email them and they will give you a revised quote.

I phoned last night to see if i could customize one of their pre built systems and was told i couldnt.I only wanted to change the hardrive Cpu and gfx card.In the product description it says a choice of ati or nvidia Gfx cards but there was no drop down menu to change.I wanted a 4870 or a 4850 even.
So i decided to bite the bullet and build my 1st rig :)

Yeah, that is the only problem i find with them. They say they are fully customizable, when they just aren't.
