Hi Guys

Starting out on a new project very soon, currently amassing an arsenal of hardware. Plans are still undecided as its a very big case and my funds are ultra tight. It may end up being a boring build but I have a cool idea that hasn't been done before too.

I started a new thread as the TJ07 thread was a bit of a read so this should make it easier to follow.

The aim of this project is to do something a bit different but give myself something to work at. I do very little encoding now so a high end 1155 system is still perfect for me.

I am looking for total silence. that is the new goal. my TJ07 was quiet but there was always bits on it that bugged me. hopefully i can sort things out with this new build.

as you can probably tell from the title, my love of Silverstone's watercooling cases is still going strong.

also, I wanted to do a 'look at all my hardware' picture.
so here it is...

he has more of a budget than me ;)

this is being done with my own funds rather than sponsorship money.

I'm not doing this project as an advertisement, I'm doing it so that my system is awesome :)

Will be great to see if silence can be achieved! Looking forward to it.

well I currently have all the hardware on test in my tj07 and it is as close to silent as I can get. hopefully the aquaero will make it a little more automated.

I am planning on doing some bits and bobs with my fan arrangement to reduce the required number of fans.

Hah, limited budget, TJ11 and Gigabyte 590GTX all in the same post. Good one ;). Looking forwards to it!

well, after buying that lot my budget is stretched enough as it is :p

I hope this is less fail than the last topic :p

kd

what was the last topic?

I spotted fail. Z68...pffff X79 pleeeeaaaaassse!

Other than that I'm sure it will be a success with you at the helm m8 (drools at TJ11).

Good Luck!

ah, z68 is perfectly fine. no point me going x79. I may as well have stayed with my X568o :p

seriously though, cant see any advantages to it for my uses. I don't use my system for much more than gaming any more so its all about silence, cooling and aesthetics now :)

Out of interest, how big (capacity) are the SSDs?

kd

both 128GB

don't really need much more than that.

sadly not. my windows is yet to be finished and I am waiting for some spare parts from silverstone.

its taking far too long and I am growing impatient

Still waiting on parts or just been busy over Christmas? Intrigued to see this develop :)

kd

a little bit of both sadly.
My Window has arrived but I have had some issues with damaged parts on my case.

Silverstone are being very awkward in replacing the damaged parts which is surprising after how brilliant they were with my TJ07 parts.

I need the plastic clips for the roof and a new power switch array because the lower power switch on mine is seized.

I am in the process of saving for a new car which has put this on the backburner a little.

I have some braided cables and the window which I will make an update out of this weekend at some point.

I have gone with Bitfenix braided cables. Sadly I don't have the time to do a full braiding job on the cables for my psu, this system will not have the same epicness that the tj07 had :(

Update

Got a bit done today.

Mainly preparation work to get the case ready to build in.

Silverstone are flat out refusing to help me with a replacement power button which is nice.

but Pulse Modding have made me a superb custom tinted window for the case.

I have used some black button allen head M3 screws to give it a stealth look as the silver ones that come as standard look a bit rubbish

not really much else to show as it has been a case of taking out all of the bits inside the case that I don't need and also deciding where bits are going.

did you have to email pulse modding through the pulsemodding.com or through facebook?

I speak to Tom regularly. Pulse modding is a brand and it is fine to discuss pulse modding products and services on these forums.

I am in talks with Tom at the moment to stock pulse products, maybe in the future we may be able to offer pulse modding services. Who knows :D

Looks very nice. How many radiators are you going to be using to get silence?

Haven't decided yet. Probably a quad and maybe a double. Still got a week to decide. Aquaero is gonna be a big help though.

Case looks really nice.

Why won't Silverstone provide a replacement power button?

Will be watching for further updates...subbed :)

Silverstone asked for serials and everything which I provided. I love Silverstone products but am currently disgusted by their service on this. Its a £400+ case and they could care less.
The thing that annoys me most is that I don't need a whole new case, just the bits! And they can't even be worth more than a fiver!

Sorry to impose on your log, but out of interest how do you do requests from pulsemodding?

kd

contact pulsemodding through their website :)

I have the owner on my msn as we have been discussing business recently.

Do Silverstone know who you are?

no, I don't think it should be a case of shouting about who I am and my industry links to be getting satisfactory service for my £500 case.

They quoted me 12 week wait for the parts before Christmas. which they never confirmed afterwards.

I had exemplary service for my TJ07 when I requested a replacement side panel. but then again, I did pay for it.

My spares arrived from Silverstone so I have fittedthem and have a 100% sorted case again.

the fans from the middle of the case have been moved. they look silly.
I don't want them.

in other news, possibilities of the following.

I spotted fail. Z68...pffff X79 pleeeeaaaaassse!

:o

we shall see

the ax series 850 and 750 use the same design as the seasonic supplies. Seasonic are corsair's oem for those supplies and as such the fan spins up only when the supply is under load. If you look on google for anandtech's review of the ax750w you will see that the fan remains stationary until it is under load. Essentially unless I am gaming, the fan is off. Which means my system runs off 6 GT fans at less than 900rpm. It's fairly quiet, I would suggest those supplies if you are looking for silence. Note that the ax1200 uses a different oem and has a fan that is on all of the time

LOL at the deleted posts. :)

its a project log, not a chat room.

various members have been warned about spammy posts.

I'm sure anyone reading my project log here would want to be presented with progress and updates. Not for useful information to be lost in someone's conversation that could easily be had away from the boards.

In other news.

I got my UD7
I got a 2011 mounting kit for my HF Supreme
I got a black EZ mount kit for my Supreme
I have 2 litres of a Mayhems prototype on its way to me for the build [big thanks to Mick@Mayhems for the support]
also got my CPU, which I cant talk about at the moment.

I want another kit of ballistix elite but I may be buying a new car this week so funds are mega tight and it may have to wait until after pay day :(

apart from that we are good to go.

bit of progress this week.

got the majority of the system built. It is all in a functional state but I am not happy with the tubing route or the reservoir mod yet.

It have scoured high and low trying to find a male to male thread extension that means i can hang the reservoir from the roof of the case.

Mick had sent me some fluid for testing but I have been asked not to use it for the time being which means that I am just using pure H2O and a bit of biocide for the time being.

It is loking like I may just have to get some pastel orange once I have found a tubing that wont mist up with plasticiser. I love the look of Tygon but it goes horrible after a few days. considering TFC or Primochill.

Here was my TJ07 which I had to take apart first, few scratches on my paint job from all the hardware changes. Sad to see this one go :(

CPU Block Cleaning. No nickel corrosion on my non EN block. I had to swap the nickel plated bracket back to the black one for this build. I cleaned the impingement channels and installed the new high performance jet plate into the block whilst it was open. Notice a small amount of debris in the channels. This is why you need to flush your radiators before use
