Just had a look at the OcUK watercooling kit, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...ubcat=1038&name=OcUK H²OC Watercooling Bundle.

I've been thinking about putting together a small loop for my q6600. Just had birthday and have some cash spare. Not looking for a best performance loop but just to keep it cool at around 3.2ghz probably.

I've read a bit about watercooling but I'm not wised up about the items in this kit. It would be to go into a lian-li A17. Is this resevoir pump as quiet as it says?

Thanks

I'm just wondering whether it would be possible to mount the radiator on the inside of the rear fan of the A17

yerr easily. That pack only has a small radiator, so chances are you would put the rad in place of the rear exhaust and change the fan into an intake.

Oh ok so internally? Excuse the drawing but (greenish is fan, orangish is rad):

yerr i think so. someone in this thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17905108 called griffin has used the same kit as you have. If you look on the first page and its a tiny photo click to enlarge and you'll see the rad on the inside.
There's one thing you cant see though, that is you cant see if he's mounted it on the inside like your wanting to do or on the outside. It'll work but you might have to play with it.

Good find cheers, well I will mount it there. Have just ordered it. Should be something fun to play with. Probably won't be dramatically lower temps. Glad I have a top fan to use as an output.

By my working the A17 rear fan would become an intake as well and could use the top fan as an output, like below (imagine there is a rad on the rear fan area):

you should be fine fella it will do something to your temps. But the thing is you can always upgrade the parts one by one. When you've got the parts make a thread in the case section about installing the w/c kit. I would like to see how it goes:)

Just fitting this system. Just a few questions before I connect the tubes and fill it.

  1. Is there a particular rad input or output or can I use either? I can't see them marked specifically as input and output
  2. How far should the resevoir be filled up to? From most pics I have seen it seems to have been around 4/5 of the way
  3. Is the right flow pump-resevoir >> Rad >> CPU >>
  4. Where should I plug in the three pin power for the pump - a fan header, fan controller?

Always go RES to PUMP then after that isnt massively importand but i always have Res>Pump>Block>Rad.
Make sure you Res is higher than your pump or the system will be a nightmare to fill and blead.

All tubing connected but still unsure as to where to connect the 3 pin. The only 3 pin slots on my mobo I can see are sysfan and auxfan. Perhaps one is temp managed and one isn't which I could put it into?

Going to try and dig out some 3 to 4 pin converters. Leak tested and one hose fitting wasn't in well enough but seems to be ok now hopefully. Then looks like I'm going to be tipping to try and get air out
