Recently, I've been looking on OcUK and noticed that the site is a hog.

Browsing on an iPad Mini or iPhone 5 and the site refreshes each time you zoom in or move around whilst zoomed in. Almost like there's a lack of memory. Very frustrating.

I haven't come across another site that does this, even sites that have a lot of image content so not sure why OcUK is special

Can someone look at this?

I have absolutely no doubt that this is not the fault of the website... I browse all day on my phone (android) and I have never encountered what you describe.

I've highlighted the cause of the problem for you.

I don't particularly care if it works better on Android, or what device I own, but its clearly a real problem. I suppose it was too much to accept this wouldn't turn in to an Apple bashing? :o

Just wanted to raise the issue to the admins.

Yeah the main site sucks on safari, the forum is fine though.

It's not a resource hog, it's safari for some reason handles it different to other browsers.

When I zoom out it does create a big black border which then has to refresh and brings the rest of the picture back in. It's something to do with the borders on the page, they aren't actually displayed properly even when fully zoomed out but when I zoom out they are there corn a second before it refreshes itself, as if they are "behind" the main page.

Yeah, valid point. Just tried this second and same thing happens here whenever I zoom back in again.

Weird now ever other website is fine? Even certain competitors.

This is a fault with your individual device, not the website. It's basically flawless on my iPhone 5 (was fine previously on 4) and iPad 2, 3 & 4.

While we're on this topic, the search box on the main site is utterly terrible. Unless you pick something from the drop down list, it doesn't work (on PC)?!
