OCUK's Linksys WRT54XX - Linux Firmware

Linksys WRT54GL
Linksys WRT54GS

I was wondering if anyone knew if OCUK's stock of the above Linksys models are using the linux firmware?
So they can use 3rd party firmware?

I'm asking, because i've heard some newer versions of the WRT54 use proprietary firmware.

The GL is guaranteed to, but it's extremely unlikely the G or GS aren't VXWorks versions.

So i guess the 'L' stands for Linux then.

Does anyone recommend a particular 3rd party firmware?

Sveasoft Talisman's served me well, but I'd debate whether it was worth $20 p.a. Linksys Info is your friend.

I suppose it depends.

The fact you can flash the firmware with 3rd party firmware means you can upgrade it with features which will normally cost hundreds on a professional router.
