Hi there

I've worked hard this January to make sure OcUK not only has the best range of memory but to make sure our prices are competitive and we always have stock availability. For an example please see our PC6400 section which is the most popular range of DDR2:-
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=8&subid=813

So how would you guys rate what I've done with OcUK's memory section?

We now have Cellshock, Corsair, Crucial, Ballistix, G.Skill, GeIL, OcUK (major 3rd), OCZ and Team RAM.

I'd like to think we lead the market from the front and our pricing is very competitive if not the best at times too. :)

Hi there, I think the OcUK range has one of the best in terms of overclocking ram available, the only thing that puzzles me is take for instance Cellshock V Corsair, the Cellshock range provides a much better price compared to Corsair which is what I've virtually always bought in the past.

Are we paying extra price for the reputation of the Corsair brand? even though OcUK has one of the best competitve prices for the Dominator range, same goes for Ocz top end range - Lifetime Warranty V 5 years, but at the end of the day I dont think many people keep their ram more than 3 years.

Hi there

Lets just say Corsair are a very profitable company. ;)
Our pricing on Corsair does generally tend to be amongst the best if not the best as even though we do sell all the other brands we often come first place or tie for first place on XMS sales in the UK for Corsair. :)

fantastic range of ram, unfortunatley i cant make up my mind which one to buy this weekend!!

HI there

Best RAM for the money whilst it last is the Crucial 10th Anniversary stuff whilst it last, then I'd say go for the Team RAM.

Or if you want something thats just great value get the GeIL Ultra or OCZ Revision 2 stuff, absolutely fantastic value. :)

Mushkin memory is difficult to find in the UK.

No idea if it's a good seller or not, which might be why it's not widely available.

For some reason it's one of the brands I look for when applying filters to long list on etailors.

Only thing I would say is that the DDR choice/price is very limited/poor now. There's only 2 sets of 'performance' 2gig ram (1 cas2, 1 pc4000) and both cost over £200. If we were talking Corsair 3500LLPRO or similar then yes fair enough but these kits are nothing special.

I appreciate that DDR is being phased out especially with many people jumping ship to Conroe, but anyone in the market for some DDR is likely to be looking elsewhere in order get some CAS2 ram for under £200. Likewise for 1gig kits (maybe people like me looking to move from 1->2gig on a s939 setup) I can't see myself buying from OcUK, when cas2 kits can be had for under £75. And probably much cheaper secondhand.

Looking at the quantities you seem to have 10+ left on most of the kits, obviously I don't know your sales figures but it might be worth cutting the prices on some of the stuff that's probably been forgotten about to try and get it out the door. I think there is still a demand for DDR, but people aren't going to pay through the nose for outdated tech :)

DDR2 selection looks healthy as one would expect with a good range of PC6400.

I think Overclockers have a great range of RAM. But i don't just look for good prices, the ability to overclock and stabilty over a wide range of different motherboards. I also look for how good the warranty service is i.e do i have to send my RAM half way across the world and wait several weeks whilst it is exchanged. For a quick local UK RMA process nothing can beat Crucial RAM. Perhaps some of the other performance RAM manufacturers could take a leaf out of their book and setup UK RMA services.

I agree although probally the main reason is because of the actual costs of running a business in the UK, if you can pay Chinese, Taiwanese people 40p per hour or whatever its not surprising RMA's get shipped far away, Corsair goes to the USA now I wonder why there ram is totally Expensive? probally because of that alone. Cellshock is quite cheap, but then again dont the Germans only pay 16% tax?

Companys get good deals on ram through buying in bulk, plus other incentives via being members of certain groups which give additional discounts. Take Crucial for example its possible to aquire extra discount if you know where your looking - hence why if bought in bulk makes a great saving & extra profit.

Well Done!!

Good job as usual. OCUK always stock the newest, hottest and most discussed hardware among the enthusiasts community which is what I like the most.

The choices of RAM and the prices they are sold at are simply the best in the industry; It is always difficult to offer rich product range and competitive price at the same time so well done Gibbo!! :)

I bought my G-skill HZ from your shop with the rest of my kit the only other ram I was thinking of at the time was Mushkin but you didn'nt stock it and its very hard to find in the Uk. Could be worth stocking their gear as well, some of the odd watercooling stuff I had to source from other companies too which added to my postage costs:(.

Aye same here! whats happend to the OcUK water cooling range, notably Dangerden & Swiftech? I also had to use another supplier for my setup that arrives on monday!

Hi there

We have done Mushkin before on DDR, but with DDR2 they are not quite so competitive yet and they are just using the same chips as the others we already have.

Getting it in we can do so with ease if people so wish it.

As can quite easily get any brand and am able to get the support to sell competively in the UK. :)

Hi there

Its not my product group, only so many groups I can look after.

My groups are:-
1. Graphics & TV Cards
2. Monitors
3. Memory
4. Processors
5. OcUK Full Systems
6. Motherboards
7. Power Supplies
8. Software
9. Keyboards & Mice
10. Toys & Gadgets

So as you can see I have quite a lot of my own groups to manage and am responsible for everything to do with purchasing and selling those products for OcUK from the basics of making sure we have stock, to presenting the product on our website. Then I have to manage the purchasers under me so I shall give Slackworth a nudge regarding his watercooling range and stock availability.

I'd say its the best out there right now. Most other competitors have only Crucial, Corsair ,OCZ, Kingston and Generic RAM.

BTW, if I was to get an E6600 + mobo that can oc to 500mhz, which ram would oc with a 1:1 ratio stable at 500Mhz?

Although definately not the most competitively priced selection, OCUK does have the most wide selection of DDR/DDR2 available in comparison to anywhere else. Plenty to suit everyone's tastes.

I'd have loved to see some HyperX DDR2 (Kingston), it seems to be really hard to find in the UK compared to other leading brands, and it's by far my favourite brand of memory followed by Crucial and OCZ.

For ddr2 you have the best range in the uk and can rival some us companies
though for ddr not really the best i had to go look else where to buy my crucial pc4000 1gb kit i got it for just £70 which is a bargain compared to the rising ram prices

As far as im concerned it's a great range to pick from, harder to decide which though.

Heres a poser for you gibbo:
IF a set of the Tenth Anniversary went poof, what would the warranty replacement be assuming no-one had rma stock?

Just that the DDR2 6400 Ballistix is the same price and be replaced with 6400, whereas the Tenth is only 5300 so would that be replaced with 5300 or something that would have cost similar?
