Oculus Rift WHEN?

Oculus have maintained that they are selling the Rift at cost price, i.e. making no profit. The FB purchase has no bearing on the sale cost if that is true.

and you'd assume with facebooks buying power it may have helped the price not be even higher. if oculus hadn't been bought out by facebook, suppliers would no doubt had worries about the success of the rift. things like will this be a one off thing, what if oculus goes bust will we get paid etc are worries suppliers no longer would have due to facebook funding it, so suppliers can offer better prices and invest better in facilities to make the supplies needed for oculus.

I honestly couldn't be convinced at this point. I've been interested in this since the kickstarter but have no idea if the thing actually exists.

I genuinely feel guilty for leaving my 4min after launch pre-ordered, march delivered rift sitting in its box collecting dust while others are still chomping at the bit. It was fun to try (like the DK2 and GearVR was) but there's just not the right content to grab my attention and I'm probably going to end up flogging mine. Not having touch controllers yet doesn't help either.

Oculus have screwed this launch up massively...

Just because I haven't been using it, that's all. After the honeymoon period I realised that while fun to experience, it's not something I'll realistically use long term.

I'm primarily playing various FPS's, KSP, DS3 and Stellaris at the moment and the one game I was playing when I preordered which it would be good for (Eliteangerous), I've since got bored of.

I feel that the Vive with the controllers and room scale games may have been a better choice in hindsight as most of the rift stuff I've tried just feels gimmicky.

Edit: And I intentionally stopped playing Alien Isolation after trying it on my DK2 so I could play it in all its glory on the CV1. Now I've got the CV1 I find it no longer works. Yay.

That is the game I'd want to play on the CV1, so it's surprising that it doesn't work.
