hi all

i have these OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 Dual Channel Platinum Series EL-DDR CAS2 (OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K) (MY-057-OC) with my amd x2 4400.

and was wandering could you have a ny better settings at this, the tighter the timings the better for amd as far as i know.

any suggestions would be great

Thanks

I cant really see the picture but are the timings 1.5-3-2-5, if so then they are very good, you could try changing them to 1.5-2-2-5. What are the rated timings for these sticks? Have you run memtest?

Just a piece of info. Cas 1.5 is not supported by AMD and apparently has no difference in performance over Cas 2.0 :)

That is about the tightest timings you can have and I think CAS1.5 can work but is no faster than CAS2.0

For 512Mb sticks 1.5-2-2-5 is possible but 1Gb sticks are more difficult and as you run 1.5-3-2-5 you are almost at the fastest timings possible.

Now to overclock the CPU and memory ;)

I thought the DFI boards could do cas 1.5, theyre amd.

Your right, but even though they do it (well can be set to 1.5) they still run it at 2.0 AFAIK. Or its a case of it can be set to 1.5 but there is no benefit over 2.0.

Basically its a fad. :p

hi

thanks for getting back to me it is these timing please check the picture is UPDATED. i have ran memtest for about 1 and half hours, no errors pass 2 tests.

i think thats ok?

That's very good timings you have there, cas 1.5  Are they stable at those timings ?

Rob

yes they are i tried pcmark 05 and 3dmark 05 and no crashes or errors, its set as well at normal ddr voltage 2.60. my board can do 2.8 i think?

total for 3mark is 5840 for overall score i think thats decent for my rig.

hi firegod

i think we spoke a while back about 2gb memory for recommendtion of these, the geils and the corsair at the time when bf1942 2 came out.

anyway what do you recommend of settings for this rig?

without overclocking in terms of timings? and

with overclocking, if its worth it?

my rig isL

amd x2 4400 (dont wanna cloock preferably)
ocz 2gb (the ones were talking about obviously :))
arctic cooling 64
7900gtx

any good suggestions would be great?

thanks for your time

Timing wise, I think what you are running is darn good. :D

The only thing I can suggest to tighten up is the Bank Cycle Time. That should be set to 7. The value is worked out like this tRC = tRAS + tRP (so for you that is 5 + 2).

If you put the CAS to 2.0 can you set RAS to CAS Delay to 2 and not 3? May need the voltage bumped a little if it BSOD's or fails to boot.

But I would say 5-2-2-2.0 is better than 5-2-3-1.5.

If it won't do that, I wouldn't worry too much, those timings are good for a 2Gb kit! :D

hi firegod

i tried 2.2.2.5, 1T timing andd no boot as soon as i change RAS to CAS Delay to 2 the pc wont bootup i bumbed the voltage to 2.8 still nothing it just fails everytime i change 3 to 2.

maybe i,m forgetting something here?

but i wanted ot to do those timings i was sure you could do that with these modules?

I wouldn't worry about it mate, 5-2-3-1.5 is more than enough. I would call anything under 6-3-3-2.5 "tight" imo. :)

EDIT: What mobo you running them on?

2 3 2 5 are awesome timings. I doubt you will see anything noticeable between that and 2 2 2 5 so dont worry about it not working lol.

hi

thanks for getting back to me

the motherboard is gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI

i think i would leave it as its pretty good according to you guys

thanks

The RAS# to CAS# delay can prolly not run at 2, this is normal for 1Gb sticks

hi

thanks fr that i think i may just leave it the way it is, i just hope games like fear can benefir from this memory as well as apps and everyday work.

thanks

You have no chance of setting the ras to cas delay timing to 2. ASAIK, only Bh5 sticks or samsung TCCD can run this timing. Unfortunatley neither are available as 1GB sticks. You have done very well with your memory already. I've never seen 1GB sticks beat 5,2,3,2.0 timings

hi

many thanks for your feedback

its no set at 5.2.3.1.5 @ 1t

no extra voltage is required, is running in 2.60v

i think that should be it for now?

thanks
