Hello,

I recently purchased some OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) PC2-6400C5 memory (link). I bought a set two weeks ago from Overclockers and I just got it a static wrapping and it had timings of 5-5-5-18 on the sticker, I then ordered another set from Overclockers and this time it came in a little plastic OCZ box, and on the stickers of the modules it had timings of 5-4-4-15. I definitely ordered the same type of RAM. Does anyone else know the reason for the change, on the Overclockers webpage it says it still has timings of 5-5-5-18?

I don't really know much about RAM timings, so will this affect me in any way?

Thank you.

Correct me if i'm wrong but the timings on the RAM is what the manufacturer tested it out at before shipping it out.

Not sure as to what implementations it has with ocuk.

Send them a mail and ask them!!

No really, the lower the timings the better, for example;

RAM at 800Mhz with the timings of 4-4-4-12 are faster than RAM at 800MHz with the timings of 5-5-5-15 although in real world performance terms, you'd barely notice the difference unless benchmarking.

Yes the lower timings are better, i'm pretty sure its the time taken for the RAM sticks to communicate with each other. So lower the better.

Ohh, thanks for the help. I always presumed the higher the timings the better...but like I said I am not the most knowledgeable about RAM, and I could not really find anything on the net.

So...OCZ have just upgraded the RAM then?
