OCZ ARC 100

I have 2 240s and 1 480. All recent purchases. Very good value so whats the catch, well

Read/write speeds in the high 400s not the mid 500s
No temperature sensor if that is important to you

Hope this helps

Have a 120GB installed in an old thinkpad and it's definitely given it a new lease of life, I mean that's just SSDs in general but has been solid running since I bought it.

I don't have any experience with that particular drive but I have with other OCZ SSDs and they were awful both of them failed within 6 months.

My very strong advice if you thinking of buying one is to avoid it completely and get a Samsung or Crucial SSD.

aaah, finally someone that knows nothing about ARC 100 series. took a while.

OP, I own 240GB, great drive.

the slight catch is the drive is about 2x heavier than others (I guess due to metal housing) (we talk maybe 40 grams vs 80)
other catch is slightly higher power consumption (we talk 3W vs 2W) + no support for low power states

so it's not your first choice for a laptop in ideal case, but for desktops it's superb and is real cheap these days.

I know OCZ are now owned by Toshiba doesn't suddenly make them a great drive though does it? I also appreciate that I haven't owned one of the new ARCs but at the same time there are better brands out there with a proven track record.

Performance figures are about 100mb/s off most SSDs and like I said Crucial still make better affordable SSD's, whilist I appreciate the ARC SSD's are cheap I would rather spend my money on a 850 Evo or Crucial BX or MX. Go and have a read on all the tech sites the ARC drives average around 3 stars in the reviews.

well, I've got a 120gb for OS Samsung 840 evo. Im just using the OCZ ARC 100 for a storage drive. The sound of my 500GB mechanical storage drive just drives me crazy!

Thanks for the opinions and what not everyone. Was waiting on a drop below £120 and this seemed like a great pickup. :D
