Hi,

Looking to move onto a Raid 0 setup.

Is their any real advantage in the Ibis, or would a decent controllers with SSD's be about as good.

The controller on the OCZ looks about 5 quids worth, but I suppose it does the job.

Also would adding a controller on the Pci slots drop it to 8x with SLi setup.

Thanks.

The controller on the Ibis, isn't a controller, the controller is in the disk itself. The PCIe card is really just a PCIe bridge.

Reliability wise, you would want a controller that had some power backup in the event of a power failure, and was a full hardware RAID solution if you were considering an alternative to the Ibis.

Ahh, makes sense as to why the controller looks so cheap :)

I was thinking of an Adaptec controller, maybe the 5405, or something in the newer Sata 3 type.

Probably work out about the same pricewise.

I would look at the revo x2 from ocz, it is nearly as fast but a tad cheaper.

Yes found those when I was looking at what seemed best option.

But there seem to be no X2's listed on the webshop here, I assume it's a newer model ? and the ones here show nil stock.

I don't need much in the way of GB's as it will only be OS boot drive, so even 64Mb would be fine.
