With a friend at the mo, he has his FSB at 333Mhz, and the closest he can set the memory to it's rated 800mhz setting is 833mhz. He has a Gigabyte DS4.

Do you think it would be alright to run it at 833mhz?

Personally, if it were my machine, I'd just go for it and run it at 833Mhz. But it being someone elses computer, I'm not so confident :p What d'ya think?

Okay, we've set the memory to 833Mhz.

However, "Test Drive Unlimited" doesn't run with the memory set at that. But if we reduce the memory clock to 667Mhz it gets into the game.

We're running the ram at stock voltages (well, whatever voltage the motherboard has at deafult).

Do you think we need to stick a bit more of a voltage through the ram? I'm not sure what the default setting is, the options to increase the voltage just say +0.1, etc, rather than actually telling us what the voltage setting is.

Opinions please? :)

default is normaly 1.8V for most, and that ram prob requires 1.9-2.0V ro run right.

Check mem voltages with something like Everest to double check though, dont *** to blow your ram.

Well sticking another +0.1v on the memory, bringing it upto 1.9v, seems to have done the trick :D He's gone home now, but with a 3Ghz C2D running at 45'c maximum on full load! And 2GB memory @ 833Mhz... and a GeForce 8800 GTX... Lucky b*****d :p

God bless Tuniq Towers :D

And God damn bent IHS's
