Hi there

I won't say much about these apart from just look at the products, performance is just unreal and yes they are expensive but if you want the performance they are a good option:-

OCZ IBIS 160GB 3.5" HDSL Super-Fast Solid State Hard Drive @ £529.98 inc VAT

HD-063-OC_400.jpg

The OCZ IBIS solid-state drive is a ground-breaking product on two levels - the storage level and interfacing level. Unsatisfied with current storage interface options, OCZ developed High Speed DataLink or HSDL, to eliminate the existing I/O bottle necks and take SSDtechnology to new heights. As the first SSD to make use of the proprietary HSDL interface, the IBIS is capable of delivering incredible, trailblazing performance (740MBps read/writespeeds and upto 120,000 randomwrite IOPS). IBIS SSDs willbe available in a complete spectrum of capacities ranging from 100GB to 960GB. Each IBIS comes in a durable aluminum 3.5inch housing and is bundled with a singleport HSDL adapter card.

Features:-
- Max Read: up to 740MB/s
- Max Write: up to 690MB/s
- Sustained Write: up to 550MB/s
- Random Write 4KB (Aligned): 100,000 IOPS
- Available in 100GB to 960GB capacities
- 4x SandForce 1222 Controllers (Onboard RAID 0)
- Max IOPS Firmware
- Seek Time: 0.1ms
- 3.5" Anodized Casing

Just wow. If I had that sort of money it'd be in my dream system for sure.

From anandtech:

Fhe real goal here is to RAID multiple IBIS drives together with the 4-port card. We measured maximum sequential throughput of 675MB/s for a single IBIS drive, assuming somewhat linear scaling you can expect over 2.5GB/s out of a 4-drive IBIS array. This would be all off of a single PCIe x16 card.

Is one of the prices wrong?

You seem to get a lot more value for money if you buy the 240GB version.

Hi there

Nope pricing is right, it why were not doing the 100GB version, as its only £40 cheaper than 160GB version.

So on these we shall only be doing for example 160GB, 240GB and then 400GBish as the inbetween sizes make them poor value.

I think the unit and general tech (i.e. the base costs) are high priced. The 240GB is just a case of adding extra storage with all the rest of the kit in place. Remember these come with a PCI-E card etc too.

Only thing is, no TRIM support. Quite a lot for SSD with no TRIM (you thought they would have figured out TRIM over raid 0 before releasing these SSDs)

I think its a case of they are so bloody quick, as in on another level quick that who cares, even a full drive would still probably put a Revo or a C300 to shame.

Remember these come with the HDSL card including in the box, only 1 port version though, but OCZ will be producing 4 port cards for some serious RAID fun. Anyone want upto 2.5GB/s read speed and over 2GB/s write speed. :D
