OCZ pulling out of RAM market

There was a returns list from a french etailor published on the xtremesystems forums a while back. OCZ were top of the list, although the figure was still pretty low < 4% iirc.

I had an ocz power supply for a while, which was absolutely fine.

I'm sad to hear this. Their products were fairly unreliable for me, but the rma was always bang on. It's easy to imagine them making a loss on it though, I think I had three sets of reaper for the price of one.

Good riddance i say, their RAM and psus are crap. Got enough DOA sticks, sticks that fail to run advertised speed and blown psus to qualify that statement.

You don't really have a clue.

The stealthxstream 400w is very good. The new Stealthxstream II's are quite good aswell.

I'm surprised OCUK don't stock G.Skill & Muskin RAM, they're far better than all the Corsair and Patriot RAM they got stocked.

I only ever had 2 OCZ items - a 500w StealthXtream PSU, and the heatsink I'm using right now.

The PSU rocker switch broke, but the PSU I had (and from the review I read when I got it) was always performed well/quietly.

As for the heatsink, well for a 92mm direct touch cooler it keeps my CPU very cool at 1.4v - 30c idle, and 42c max under 20 rounds of Intel Burn test. So they must be doing more than one thing correctly unless it's down to my case cooling.

Never touched their memory due to some iffy things I'd read in some reviews.

Good, there ram was shocking. I remeber when OCZ first appeared with ram and it was just random off cuts that the big boys didnt use. I had 3 sets all of it had issues. Went back to Corsair never had any issues yet and have very little faults.

The PSU's are the same issue. Having said that the SSD's look very good and I may end up buying one.

i currently use OCZ, although admittedly it was the fifth kit in three years due to constant failures

This news will have Corsair jumping for joy, not because their sales will increase dramatically their pricing could do.

look at the pricing and you can see that OCZ were the company responsible for much of the "price trashing" in the RAM market. Without OCZ offering the cheap option you could find RAM prices creeping up again.

Gutted to hear this, OCZ are one of my favourites.

I have had faulty Geil, Corsair and Crucial but never had a problem with OCZ or G.Skill.

Looks like I'll be looking to G.Skill in the future.

Oh i have a clue, that psu is good because its a CWT and not FSP, which they use a lot. Theres some good units but its mostly not so good imo. Telling me i have no clue dosen't change the facts. I work with the latest hardware on a day to day basis in numbers and have some insight as to whats good and whats not, no bigtime expert analyst on the subject by any means, but i got a clue buddy.

This is a great shame. I've ALWAYS used OCZ memory is all my PC's and those I have built for others.

Always been superb RAM. Only ever had to RMA one set of BH-6 back in the day and received new stuff with in a week and it was perfect.

Always found their forum staff very helpful too
