OCZ SSDs

lol, well thats for two reasons

1) I've never seen a bad review on the OCUK website which suggests any bad ones don't get published
2) If you've just shelled out big money for a SSD you're not likely to admit to problems

But I am a cynical person ;)

I think Anandtech are going a bit overboard- The core still performs fairly well against most hard drives. I think it's just the case the new Intel SSD's are so good they make everything else look a bit silly.

I had the 60Gb V2 OCZ for less than a week before I sent it back where I got it from as its performance was very poor under multi-tasking with frequest stuttering and sometimes it took so long to launch an application I thought my PC had "hung"

Waiting for these Intel's to come out as they look very tempting :)

I have the V2 60Gb OCZ drive with Vista home basic 64-bit in a Rock xtreme laptop.
The drive is so much faster than the orginal 7200 rpm drive. I have had no problems whatsoever.
Every program that uses disc access just seems to run faster and smoother.

Try doing some multitasking with apps and you'll quickly see its limitations. The existing MLC SSD's have a major flaw unfortunately and led to Anandtech recommending that no one buys them. Only Intel has an MLC design that works atm.

It's all here: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/intel/showdoc.aspx?i=3403&p=6

I picked up a cheap 32gb Sandisk SSD from the mebers market.

This was the best, and also the worst drive I have ever used.

The read on these SSD's are second to none. Vista boted quicker and launching apps was instant. Very very noticibly different. Then I noticed it was hanging and installing apps seemed to take ages. The write on these is awful, as is multitasking. I have tried several combinations of ACHI, RAID with another HDD, write caching enable/disabled and countless other setups. Nothing changes the fact that SSD just isn't ready fro Vista or mulitasking or multiple read/writes.

But, reading is blazingly fast.

there has been loads of thread about his on other forums and they all point to one thing the controler used on the ssd drives isnt up to power and cannot handle the multi tasking as the pathway isnt wide enough so things get stuck !!!!

the new upcoming intel one have a much better controler and they dont have this issue !!!!
