Hi Guys,

Has anyone bought this? I am seriously thinking of getting this, as I wouldn't have to reinstall everything;)

just wondering what someone's experience with it is really like.

Yes M8, Had a 120GB drive 2 days ago. It's 60GB Dataplex (REVO) 60GB Overprovision.

You don't have to reinstall "IF" your boot drive is set to MBR not GPT (Like mine was) winge!.

I have the same CPU, and MB as you. Just install the dataplex software, restart, the ssd drive is gone and i was just left with my WD 2TB Black.

Once you use the same progs 2 or 3 times everything just speeds up! AWESOME TBO!.

Ran that atto prog to check and got 500/500 so all good. Its an agility i think.

Very happy. Nearly got the octane, but wanted 2tb of SSD WD Black goodness.

BF3 maps now load silly fast!, Normally one of the first now, LOL, still have to wait tho.

Hope this helps

:-)

This is essentially an Vertex 3 not the agility as the compionet NAND used is of high quality due to the reads and writes the drive will constantly expoerience on the cache.

There are a number of reviews out at present that praise the drive for its fantastic system boosting performance.

I myself have use done and feel that it is barely any slower than a dedicated SSD however the facility to use a 2TB HDD or larger with this is just fantastic.

A fantastic idea that will hopefully take off.

Thanks for that. I've always wanted to know how long it would be before the same program started quicker.

cheers:D

Hey Andrew, Thanks for the info, Vertex 3 even better!

It is limited to 2TB at the moment tho, They will fix that soon i am told with firmware, I asked on the OCZ forums.

Im not sure when this firmware will come but hopefully itll not take too long

Hi,

I have got the 128Gb cache and got the 64Gb synapse cache for my dad's pc and have to say I am very impressed as normally do not buy 'cutting edge' stuff.

I installed my synapse first into my 2700K new build which dual boots Linux as main OS and Win7 pro as gaming OS - Win is installed onto it's own 1Tb hard drive and Linux is running on a 128Gb ssd.

The installation of the Dataplex software went ok but when I tried to reboot the pc into Win 7 the grub bootloader could not find the disk. I used the BIOS to boot directly from the Win 7 disk and no OS could be found.

After some testing I had to rebuilt my Win 7 installation (mbr & partition table toasted and could not even fix with testdisk) and tried again to install synapse and it has worked.

Apart from that initial issue I have been using this for a few weeks and am very, very impressed. It just works (forgetting my install issue) and my Win 7 system is much quicker.

So impressed I got my dad one and installed his with no problems at all and it has been working really well for him. He uses his pc for general internet, email and also PS Elements/negative scanning and has commented on the responsiveness of the pc now it has the synapse.

I had initially wanted to use the Intel SRT caching with my Z68. As I dual boot and mainly use Linux it was a problem with having to set all my disks to RAID and I did not want to have to force that in Linux as I already use mdadm; so gave up on that and reverted to the synapse.

Was worried about corrupted data if the pc was shutdown incorrectly etc but the rebuild of the data from the cache/hdd seemed to have worked ok on the one time I tried it out (when I was feeling brave!).

Just a shame I could not use this for Linux.

:)

Same here si, I will be getting one for the misses soon.

Seems weird having defrag on with an SSD in there!. O well guess they know best.

No idea about Linux tho.

have one coming for my crimbo present

:)

looking forward to it. in the end i could use the intel srt for linux if i wished with a fairly small additional cache drive
