I've got a 60Gb OCZ Vertex 2 which I'm no longer using and so I was considering throwing it into a laptop and putting XP on it.

I appreciate that XP doesn't support TRIM but that wasn't an issue when I was using that SSD in a Mac Pro as I believe the Vertex 2 has its own garbage collection. In fact, when I force enabled TRIM, the performance suffered.

Is this going to work OK? Is there anything I need to do apart from re-partition the drive to remove OS X and install XP?

I've got a Vertex 2E in a machine without TRIM (not the OS, it's the motherboard not supporting AHCI). I haven't run any tests on it, but I'd say it feels just as fast as it did when it was new :).
