OCZ Vertex - Cost?

I was considering buying one 60GB one last week and decided to put it off until I got paid this week. I had originally seen it for £168 but now that are more near £200

Does anyone know why the price has increased so much, and if it is likely to go down any time soon?

Ooh, prices are a rather taboo subject around here.

Let's just say that as long as people keep buying at ridiculous prices, there's not much reason for opportunistic business people to reduce them.

I got my 30Gb ones about a month ago and they are now £3 more than then, and I seem to recall the 60Gb's being about £210 at the time, so not sure when you saw them that cheap unless they were on TWO of course.

Even on OcUK, they were about £180 earlier this week

Yeah, I remember recommending a 60GB to someone over a 30GB one because they were only £50-60 more for double the storage, now they're nearly double the price too.

SSD's aren't worth it lol, wait abit longer untill it becomes mainstream. £200 for 60gb is stupid..

Photoshop isn't worth it lol. £300 for a suped up paint program is stupid, wait until it becomes mainstre... oh, wait.

Why spend all that money on an i7 and skimp on the hd? Speed! that is the purpose of i7 no? Then don't bottleneck it with you hd's. I'm buying another 60GB Vertex next month.

Flash Memory and DDR2 are all shooting up in price at the moment. Unless the NAND manufacturers increase production so supply is good high prices will remain.

I had an idea to buy Vertex's. flash them and align them and resell them. I wonder if anyone would pay more to have it OS install ready?

Have to back up Ninja Please here. Upgrading to SSD, especially in RAID would have to be the most logical upgrade at the moment. Of cause that depends on what you already have.
