Hello there people!

Sorry if this is a right newbie of a question. But i have pre-ordered windows 7 Home premium and am planning on buying the 60GB OCZ Vertex. After reading the reviews and hearing some very stupid things from some people i just wanted to know one thing.

If i install windows 7 onto the vertex do i need to use the wiper utility (and can it be used)? or is that just for the OS's that dont support TRIM?

As always your knowledge is greatly appreciated!

I don't think there is a need to run Wiper on Windows 7 as it supports TRIM out of the box.

Somone with more knowledge on this will be able to confirm this.

Wiper?? Trim??? Arnt SSD's just plug and play like normal hard drives

They are in general yes. But certain (older) models have issues where deleting files from the SSD doesn't actually remove the data from the SSD, it just replaces it.

It essentially means that you're drive gets slower and slower over time and use, unless a wiper or trim command is used.

Newer drives and now with Windows 7, the majority of these teething issues the last generation of SSD's experienced (like stuttering) have pretty much been solved.
