Odd Excel Copy issue

Hi,

Odd issue with Excel and to save me trawling the internet for solutions thought I'd ask in here just in case someone knew the answer

Select a cell
CTRL+C or Right click & copy

Dotted lines highlight, and flash off.

If I then paste in another cell, word, notepad or a browser etc I just get a (

If I copy from the formula bar it is fine.

this issue is only happening in Excel and I've not changed anything in excel or on the system to cause it.

Any ideas?

I've had similar pasting issues in Excel, although not exactly the same as yours.

Some questions:

- Does it happen with just a) This one spreadsheet, or b) ALL spreadsheets?
- If a), have you tried it on another PC with similar results
- Does it contain macros?
- Is there any pattern to the data you're trying to copy, or does it do it with any cell?
